Red Sugino dust caps?

Are the red Sugino dust caps associated with a particular era, specific cranksets? Random bling with no particular significance?

Those red aluminum caps are extremely rare. I really think they made the "look" of the Mighty crank set. Good luck trying to find any if you want them.

I've got a set, actually. I had already set them aside since they didn't really work with the color scheme of the bike, IMHO. Now, apparently I'll be locking them away in the safe deposit box.

The '73ish silver and orange Fuji Newest hanging above the checkout counter at our old Fuji bike shop had the red dust caps. Very cool, I wonder what ever happened to that bike. That was back in 1981 btw.

When I bought a set of those cranks in 1975 for my track bike, the dust caps never saw the crank. I did however locate some chrome plated Sugino crank bolts and those did go on. That and a D.I.D. "chrome" plated track chain, actually nickel plated, "it sparkles" was on the box. Total junior category bling. Still use those chains, love the three piece master link too. Oh yes, chrome plated spokes and Scheeren rims so- Six Day Pro. They looked so god under the lights on race nights.
One had to look like a winner before the race and after on the podium.

bugger! I need a set of those in red, as I have red chain ring bolts, as well. I have this BF friend with a taste for blingin.....
Oh, well, I can always paint the metal chrome ones....

You might be able to find some sort of red anodized BMX ones to stand-in, at least getting you the right sort of finish to match.
