To each their own, I guess. I'm 165 to 175 lbs and run 28's with 60 to 65 psi front and 85 to 90 rear (pretty heavy rear bias in my weight distribution because my seat is setback quite far and I sit on it most of the time). The front shows very little compression of tire (visually), the rear a bit more.

No, never. My roads are pretty average... I don't think I'm hitting more or fewer potholes/rough patches than most others and about all I do is lift the front wheel over some of the worst of it (where possible).
Maybe the tire size (28 mm with actual 26.5 to 27mm width) helps, but I also sometimes use 23's (actual 24mm) at 70 psi front and have yet to pinch flat (I haven't used them as much, though).

Charts be damned, I go with what's comfortable/works for me with my usage. Road bikes, both 700/25, 100+ psi on one and 90-95 psi on the other...both front and rear. 200 pounds good weight fit I am.

Im 125 lbs
65 front, 70 rear on 28's is usually the max I can run without it being too harsh. 60/65 feels better. Theyre Vittoria Randonneurs and max out at 85 psi.

Agreed,
The charts like the one I posted can give a starting point if a person is not sure where to start. The chart is what prompted me to try a lower pressure then I had been using and I found the lower pressure and wider tires improved my enjoyment for the way I ride.
