Thanks, I like to keep things simple.
I didn’t bring any cooking gear and used a Hennessy hammock for camping. I also toured in August so no warm clothes were needed. The Panniers I used where MEC World Tour 56L cycling Panniers they have a role up top so I guess they look a little smaller when there not fully packed. I definitely had to pick some stuff up along the way though. Live and Learn.

Yep! That is a tour-specific unicycle with a hydraulic brake and 36 inch wheel. The large wheel allows me to keep a resonable pace similar to a loaded two wheeler.

Touring on a unicycle is a lot of fun and makes for an optimal position for viewing scenery. I have toured the length of Nova Scotia, ridden the Adirondack loop (found on adventure cyclist) and done the ride from Quebec City to Montreal. I will always love touring on one wheel, but for the time being I have decided to take a break from the uni to allow my crotch to recover.

As you can imagine, since the geometry is less than ideal comfort-wise, I have sold the uni and am looking for a long haul trucker.

hey levi, if you ever get a chance to try a penny-farthing, jump on it, it is a real gas. and really fricken high. Terrifying at first, but pretty darn neat after about a minute. Upper Canada Village 2 summers ago would rent one for use on their grounds, that is where I tried it. Was a lark.

Haha, thanks but I'm not really. Once you learn to ride a unicycle, it really doesn't take much practice to start riding long distances.

Unfortunately I haven't had the chance. I know they are similar in terms of mechanics; fixed hub, large wheel, short cranks mounted in line with the hub.

Here's a picture from Ride The Lobster - the first ever long distance unicycle race. It took lace in the summer of 2008 and was the length of Nova Scotia (about 800 km).

You can see the classic penny farthing leading the way!

Don't mind my attire. Leading a tour of kids and one of their racks broke so I took on her gear. The BOB and T2000 are awesome though. Thinking about rebuilding with a Rival/Apex mix this summer.

Just finished my commuter/touring bike. Just waiting on a front rack. Been riding for several years, but wanted to get into touring this year. Probably going to do the GAP as my first outing.

The B67 Brooks seems to be a great saddle for pedaling around town, but not sure about longer touring. I really like the tire options on the Surly. I have 28 street, the 32 commuters and 37 and 40 Cross tires.

b67 is definitely good for touring. I'd recommend at least doing a trial of more upright setup (ie put the bars on the top spacer) than pictured, in order to play to its strengths.

Terry, did you do that on a seamless or a cyclo? just curious, not often you see a seamlessly type shot on a bike forum.

It was seamless paper with a 4X8 sheet of white wall board from Home Depot under the bike. Doesn't show well in this images, but the wall board has a dull gloss to it that gives a slight reflection. Here is a link to a pic of my road bike that shows it a little better....

on the eight ball there, ( I was wondering what those were in the other shots;-)

as per the 4x8, yup a 4x8 with white vinyl stapled onto it used to be used often for a sheen, also a 4x8 of plexi, diff colours, gives a better reflection too, especially for getting good bounceback of the rear lit vertical seamless or cycle (more important in the pre Photoshop days and with chromes) In the Surly shot headon, I can see where you cleaned up, theres a bit still near the front tire.

oh, and your link didnt pan outso couldnt see the road bike.

nice shots, have shot or lit lots of stuff over the years in studio, but never a bike properly...

Timberline-it looks like you have brifters on that bike, but what are the things on the bar-ends? At first I thought they were some sort of twist shifter thingee, but then it does look like there are brifter paddles on the brake assemblies?

I think they're bar-end bells. I put one on my wife's MTB and it "dings" on the slightest bump. Two of them would be nearly unbearable...

Jesus Murphy, especially here in Montreal! the roads are pretty poopy. Mind you, I imagine given the Earth's population, many many angels must be getting their wings.....
