Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

1999 Campione in dang near mint condition. I have new Fulcrum Racing 3 wheels ready to go on it just as soon as I get the proper lockring.
The heavy CXP-21 wheels hold this bike back.

All the paint is a fresh as shown in this taken taken before I cleaned it up.

No longer mine ...wish I hadn't sold this one, but truthfully wasn't riding it and needed another geared bike just couldn't justify keeping it in storage. Looking back though, those bars gotta go!

This is fantastic. Is it a museum piece, or do you actually plan to put cables on it and ride it?

It will be ridden--not hidden! I'm working on acquiring everything I need to make it roadworthy again and hope to have it out this Spring. V/r Shawn

What's the story behind this? How and where did you find it? Did you already do a write-up about it somewhere on this forum or elsewhere? If so, link please!

Here ya go https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...i-folgore.html I'm collecting parts for it now and just about have everything to return it to the road. I'm correcting some things as well such as removing the junk Bianchi stickers on it and Gus is providing me with a set of accurate, quality decals. I have also stripped all guards off it to go for the corsa look. Awaiting parts from Italy and other places. Also have to paint and pinstripe the head tube and seat tube but I'm going to need at least a 70 degree day to do that. I'll post progress in the other link. V/r Shawn

Bought this from a friend for $60. He told me it was an 84 but later found out that it was more likely an 86. I feel so cheated.

It wasn't in this condition so we cleaned it up and upgraded some things. Wasn't my size but fit my wife so she rode it for several years. Strangely enough, she had never heard the saying steel is real but when she rode it she said it felt like it had a soul of its own. Bought a new $3,000 carbon bike and she says the ride quality is not as good as the steel bike.

My early 90s Alfana. Not the Bianchi I wanted but for $80 and 15 minutes from home, how could I say no. Mostly built up with spare parts except for the headset, carbon fork and 3D printed headset spacer. It now has Mavic Cosmos wheels with Clement gumwall 25c tires. The original owner used it for triathlons and had a mix of early 90s 105 and dura-ace, seat post mounted bottle cages and aero bar extensions wrapped in Cinelli purple/black camo bar tape.

Bought this bike when I first moved to San Diego in 1992, swapped out the DT shifters for ultegra 9 speed in about '98 and it had been hanging in the shed since about 2002 when I moved to my current really hilly location. The right shifter died, so I got a 105 drivetrain from PBK and built it up for trainer duty recently. I already swapped out the stem and bars because I hated them, I should really hit the road with the bike one of these days.

My former Bianchi Infinito. I climbed GMR twice (on separate days of course) with it. It was my first CF bike and we had quite a few adventures together. I sold it a couple of years ago, a decision that I almost instantly regretted. That was a fun bike to ride.
