Was pre-cooked tentacles purchased at Safeway. I placed them under the burner so you couldn't tell it was just tentacles.

Oh and I got a response to this photo that made me realize that people are gullible. I was asked "is that real?". Why yes it is real; the stove is real; the burner and pan are real, and the octopus was real (real dead, and real tasty).

I prefer to cook them fresh. Same for my rabbit and veal kidneys. In fact, I eat very little food that is/has been frozen. Except for bread, which freezes very well.

I agree with you on meat, but chances are your octopus has been frozen. The alternative method to get it tender is to beat it on a rock for several hours.

I lived in Okinawa for 3 years. One day, my friend and I were wandering along the beach, some older Japanese guy comes up out of the water with a still squirming octpus. He cuts a bit of the tentacle off and offers it to us.

Now that was fresh!

There were also some small shell-less conch type critter I ate raw when I was in the Caribbean. Not sure what they were called, but they were pretty tasty too.
