Cleaning with Crockpot

I haven't heard of that, but have heard of people using ionizing cleaners to clean parts. I'm not sure how much better the results are versus some degreaser and brushes though.

Ultrasonic cleaner, maybe. Never heard of putting equipment into a crock pot for cleaning. All a crock pot can do is heat up the cleaning solution. Hot water and soap in a bucket would do the same thing.
I've used a small crock pot to melt Gulf wax/paraffiin for waxing chains. But I don't use it for cleaning chains.

What you may have heard is using a Crockpot to melt paraffin by those who lube their chains with wax. Otherwise any plain pot that holds solvent will do as heat isn't needed.
Finally, you may have heard of using an ultrasonic cleaner to clean parts and they usually use a water based cleaner like Simple Green.

I have heard of people using a crockpot with some dishsoap and water to loosen up the grease. Essentially the same as a heated ultrasonic cleaner without the buzzing.

And without the agitation. I've various results on ultrasonic cleaning, so I'm not sold on it yet. I guess I'm not afraid to put some brushes to good use.
