Has an BF member experimented with EPO?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Has an BF member experimented with EPO?

Got alot of doctors here...easy access.

Seriously, has anybody here tried it? It must really be something else if so many pro riders stake their careers on it.

Nothing you say here will be used against you!

It's kind of chewy. Like squid.

Never tried it, or anything else.

I once made a baking soda, vinegar and EPO volcano for a science project. It worked 15% better than a normal baking soda and vinegar volcano.

'Experimenting' with EPO sounds dumb dumb dumb.

The fact that too large a dose can thicken your blood to the point that a perfectly healthy person dies in their sleep is pretty frightening.

It sounds like the sort of drug that needs to be managed with ongoing, careful monitoring by a doctor with a name like a sports car.

Low dose HGH sounds more appealing, though really REALLY expensive... Maybe it's something that will become more mainstream and affordable, as it's currently in use for anti-aging treatments.

It's obviously a dangerous slippery slope when dealing with atheletes where money is on the line. People will push things to the edge to try to get an advantage. Whether it's breaking the rules or risking their health, I don't think it's worth it.

That being said, from what I've read about the benefits/risks, I probably wouldn't say no to HGH in 20 or 30 years, when I'm nearing 60. Then again, I don't race.

EPO would or would not make me a contender at the local level. For a slice of that pie, I wouldn't take the risk.

I've heard some rumors about Central Tejas amateurs around here. No names, just generally speaking. The guy who was telling me about it seems to like to tell doping stories though. He used to coach at the OTC in Colo Spgs.

I plan to experiment with pot belge. What is the proper ratio of coke, meth, heroin, and caffeine? Know where can I get some syringes?

EPO saves live if the person being treated has lost their ability to produce red blood cells. Taking EPO can increase blood cell count to the point of clogging arteries when resting or sleeping. Riders on EPO have to set their alarms every three hours at night and wake up to excercise, sleep through the alarm, you die.

and you would expect someone to out themselves here? Odds are someone posting on this board is using EPO. and that is a big part of the problem. Not too much sympathy for adult professional athletes destroying their own health, but when young impressionable amateurs feel compelled to dope, or are lead by their example then we have a problem.

are you serious? I thought the microdoses that rides are taking to avoid detection would be small enough so they weren't doing funky things like that

I sprinkle EPO and Growth hormone on my cornflakes in the morning. I can now pedal at 400 watts for hours on end and sustain 25 mph into the wind no handed. The downside is I have grown and I need a bigger frame size. There is nothing wrong with EPO...I even use it on my chain.

Literally, experimented. I used rats. Nice response. Not sure how it affected their cycling. Hard to fit rats. Let's see inseam is about 2 cm, so that would mean they would need a 1.3 cm frame. But they have a long reach. They would need a really long stem or top tube. Anyone know where I could buy one of those? Oh wait, here's one.

Okay, I have all of the (pot belge) ingredients except caffiene. Should I just grind up a No-Doz?

Seven riders died on EPO in the 90s.

Microdoses don't do enough to have a real effect. In order to see the performance benefit, you have to increase red blood cell count by a large amount, this thickens the blood. This is not as dangerous in people with high RHR, but in low HR athletes, it could easily lead to stroke or heart failure. It's like pumping mud.

Mocking responses aside, what exactly does it do performance wise? Are we talking increasing your sustained wattage from 400 to 450 (big jump) or only 400 to 405 (small jump) or what???

Edit: Before someone makes a joke, these are not my wattages (although I wish), only for theoretical purposes.

I don't use EPO, but I do use Depotestosterone, but under a Doctors care along with HGH injection. It's treatment for a pituitary disease. As to EPO use, the only way I'd introduce it to MY precious bod is if it was to treat chemotherapy related anemia. What EPO does, by the way is to stimulate Red Blood Cell production. Your body makes plenty of it naturally. Artificial use when not needed tends to actually reduce the O2 carraige/transfer capability of the blood due to it developing the consistency of Strawberry Jam if overused. In miniscule amounts, with extreme care it will increase the O2 carriage capability. Little is known about the long term health risks though.

Explosive Pyrotechnic Ordnance (EPO). Not sure I would want to inject that kind of stuff.

Wow, what a BLAST!!!
