Commuting in NoVA: Manassas to Chantilly
I'm going to be moving into the area in a few months and working in Chantilly, between 66 & 50, just west of 128. I'm considering living in Manassas.
Do you have suggestions on route for commuting? Rt. 28 looks pretty inhospitable.

I'm not really sure, yet. Just looking at prices, it seems that that's where we can afford.
The neighborhoods that we've seen interesting listings in have been mostly on the north like Manassas Park, Yorkshire, and Sudley.
[If you have suggestions of other places to look, as well, I'm all ears. Have wife and four kids. Trying to find 1000+ sq. ft. (preferably closer to 1500), 3/1+ (wife really wants second bathroom) with a yard to play in a safe neighborhood. Trying to stay under $300k. Trying to stay within 10-12 miles of the Westfields Marriott in Chantilly, though closer would be nice.]

House prices in NOVA are pretty still high. Under 300k is going to be tough. Manassas is a good place to start looking, but there are lots of older neighborhoods hidden around.
Pleasant Valley is ok on weekends. Don't know how weekday traffic is. Problem is getting to it. 234 and 29 are not the best for bikes.
I'd probably use Old Centreville Road/Ordway (parallel to 28) and New Braddock/Braddock to get to Clifton Road/Stringfellow. All bike friendly. Puts you a bit east of where you want, but Northbourne and Braddock should get you to the area you want.
