Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

What's so unique about it? Do people actually recognize bikes by their nicknames?

Every one of my bikes has a name, and this one has it's name on the downtube. Voskhod is the second satellite put in space (by the Russians), and my first fixie was a Jamis Sputnik. My biking friends know the names of my bikes.

It has layers of certain kinds of tapes that prevent scratches/dents, and also make it not slide when I lean it up against the top tube. Done to look perfectly clean by cutting pieces to certain shapes (top tube is't just round), and kept for 3 years now.

Another member on here posted the Craigs link in Scrod's thread asking if he should buy it. I waited a week and a half to give him a chance and when it was still around had a friend pick it up for me from the nice older woman who had it.

Fit is perfect and, although there are a few scratches here and there, I was really surprised the shape it was in after 32 years of life.
