Should I go to All City's headquarters? Is there anything there that I can buy?

I would probably do that. It is a good solid upgrade. The Zen chainrings look awesome and EAI makes a nice cog.

I made the modification because I wanted to change from drop bars to Nitto North Road, not because I had any issue with the brifters. I like the bar ends and they shift very well (index for the rear del). I prefer friction shifting for the front del and the bar end makes trimming it much more intuitive.
I also find it easier to shift several gears at once with the bar ends than with the brifters.
One complaint I have heard about bar end is that you can hit them with your legs. I don't notice even when I use the bike off road. I do however run my handlebar higher than the seat, so this gives a less cramped cockpit and helps avoid leg interference.

i have a lead on some trp levers and 10sp index/friction microshift bar-ends....i'd have to run the rear friction obvsly cause 11sp....
the surly rack sits higher than the soma one did on my wolverine, so i had to raise my bars 5mm so the basket wouldn't interfere with the shifters...

friction shift anything more than 8 speed is usually described somewhere along the |fussy <-> impossible| scale
i will echo the hitting the shifter with your knee, i did that on my fuji when i had a barend on there and it always happens at the WORST time
if you do get barends, get an indexed shifter for the rear, and friction the front. i think youll like the barends for the adventuremobile

i've ran 9sp friction before and it wasn't a nightmare.
if i went index, i'd have to buy dura-ace 11sp shifters, which i don't really wanna do.

Been thinking about getting the nitto albastache bars for a townie type/sweet fixie whip. Think they look dope and seem to strike a nice middle ground. Coming from b123s.
Any other things to look at?

Is that Quickbeam yours? It looks big enough and is wearing your trademark bars (well almost).
This is coincidental because I just found a Quickbeam in my size on CL (only a 2 hour drive), unfortunately it will prolly be gone by the time I get back after New Years. Same color too.
These were some of the last Rivendells made by Bridgestone in Japan. One of only two single speed models. The Simpleone (also no longer made) was made in Taiwan.

I always wonder if it's some placebo (I paid a lot of money for this product so I'll convince myself it's better) but the Zen ring so damn quiet compared to any other chainring. Not sure if it's because I have a newer chain, everything is serviced (clean/greased chain), etc.. but that ring is just ninja quiet. I've ridden next to other bikers on trails and they'll mention how damn quiet my bike is while riding next to them.

Well, I now have two Sugino Zen chainrings, and they are both silky smooth. The only other chainring that I have found to be this smooth is the Blackspire I've got on my Wabi Lightning.
