Cowbells are great on mountain bicycles when going downhill on rough terrains. On good surfaces, such as common MUPs, probably not so much.

Yep. I have one on both my MTB and gravel bike. I have had many hikers thank me for the advanced warning of my approach. I like the Granite Cricket because it’s not too loud, and I can turn it off.

I was just cracking wise. But I do wonder what happened to that bell.

I’ll get a couple - turning it off on quite and solitary stretches is a great idea.

Cowbells work great on my All Road bike for a mix of gravel and pavement.

Be careful what you ask for here, you just might get 7 pages(or more) worth of opinions about it

A good amount of those seven pages were the typical off topic banter. Had there been the regular nitpicking, hair splitting, and arguing that goes on, I think that seven could have easily been doubled.

I hope all of us have been duly chastened for our good behavior ... I will assume many will make the excuse of "Holiday Cheer" or some such ... but I find our behavior unconscionable.

Let's get back at it, folks .... let's pick some nits and make borderline bannable offensive posts .... we don't want this site to become a place for dull, boring civil discussion, do we?

Yeah it's amazing that this thread hasn't turned into a cockfighting contest.

Cockpit has that elitist serious cyclist tone to it which handlebars, stem and levers doesn't have.

I don't know. I read it more as, "Yeah, I can pretend to be a "'normal' BF poster like everyone else."

The desperation you sense is a desperation to be accepted .... even @wolfchild has human roots, after all.

Contrast that post with the more "standard Wolfchild" post:

which is, to my (admittedly sick and twisted) mind a lot more intentional provocative and dismissive of / demeaning towards most of the rest of the population of the planet, and particularly cyclists.

I think Wolfchild is trying to communicate with us on our terms and we should be appreciative.

There's no "contrast that with", because that was the post I was referring to.

Appreciative of the rare post where he isn't trying to stir things up? I don't think so.
