weather prediction for sunday is 73* with 10-15mph wind WNW.........its going to take a wee bit more effort on my early AM segment of this ride to catch you guys. Flip side, coming back down to Oceanside will be rather nice.

Good thing it's you riding into the headwind... You can handle it.

We got to "enjoy" the headwind all over orange county last Saturday.

I won't hear what MRI revealed until 10/8.

Right now I am still planning on riding at least as far as San Clemente. My friend is interested in riding too. I will see if she's up for the entire route no matter how fast. We DO have all day...so being fast is not necessary. I don't expect you faster folks to wait on me if I'm struggling with my speed and shoulder.

FYI I tried my MetroLink phone app today and because I hadn't used it in a while I had to re-login (e.g. find my password). So check that if you use it infrequently. The app is a lot easier and more reliable than the flaky ticket machines in O'side.

I also checked for planned service advisories, so far nothing that would affect us on Sunday.

Met up with my friend Nicole and we are in. Park in lot at end by Katella like before? I tweaked stuff on bike that should help my shoulder. I will have my biofreeze and pain meds if needed.

Just noticed my rear wheel is out of true by a bit. No broken spokes. I noticed it when I was doing hard braking on the last down hill the other day but forgot to look at the bike since I was starving. Do I ride hundred some miles on it or change out it to the boring wheels it came with? No high speed hills until I get home....

edit: looked all over and couldn't find the cassette locking tool. CX bike rear tubeless tire won't hold air.

Well, that one's in the books... we ended up splitting in half at San Clemente and Jim, Vic and I carried on to Oceanside, but we went to Breakwater instead of Pizza Port.

Had fun, nice seeing you all

mechanical issues and used the singlespeed today, so I sandbagged my start time so I won't have to pedal forever and cook my legs. Meet the group in Las Pulgas after jamming on the I5 for a bit. Was the cleanest EVER shoulders!!! Only rode with them for about 10miles, had lunch and beer before I had to pedal another 35 home. Pizza was good n filling, too filling. Took a while before I get get a good cadence again.

Bummed my bad timing missed the other half of the group.

Good ride today everyone. Nice weather and good company, except for the weird lady in Dana Pt! Here’s a few of us overlooking the harbor.

I got her on camera. Tho can’t hear what she was asking/saying clearly as i was too far away. I reviewed footage and saw nothing that would indicate any of us crossed her path before she jogged up.

I am downloading and will share the bit involving her. The whoe bit about being narcissistic... hahaha

I need to get my diet in order and ride more. I had fun despite my terrible conditioning and shoulder issue.

I decided to hop on the train from San Clemente at 11:50AM rather than grab food and wait for next one. So I rolled over to 7-11 to grab a coke for the train. While I was paying some homeless dude tried to walk out with a Four Loco w/o Paying. The guy behind the counter was cat quick chasing after him. The homeless guy couldn't run it seems as his pants were falling down exposing his bare butt when I went outside. I'm glad he didn't grab my bike which I had brought into the store and was by the door!

I had my DVR set to record football game. We got to ARTIC but there was a broke down train already there. So they had to hook our train up to that train...then everyone who was going beyond ARTIC was to transfer to the front train. BUT while they did their thing hooking up the trains....they kept doors closed so could not get off train. It felt like forever and they kept turning off the power so the A/C not working while power off. It was getting stuffy but not terribly so. Finally were able to exit and head to car. Get on the 91 headed home and some lady in a Lexus SUV decided she wanted the space I was occupying in my lane and changed lanes....I was able to swerve into lane to my left avoiding her. It was close call not hitting the vehicle in THAT lane. I got the "sorry" wave from the driver of the Lexus.

Thanks to all of the stronger riders who were up for doing this ride the "easy" way: @tunavic, @jimincalif @TrojanHorse and @DrIsotope (thank you for bringing your better half ). I could not have done the more challenging way that I know TH and Tunavic typically go. I had fun despite feeling a bit sluggish once we hit some of those rollers. It was hot (or at least to me it felt warm and I took a photo at one point on rollers on Laguna bike route and my face is bright red...heat and exertion? I could have probably ridden all the way to Oceanside but I just didn't want to slow the group down anymore than I had. I appreciate the regrouping after hills etc. But that meant you were waiting on me a lot.

Gleneyre sucks, no doubt about it. steep little kickers with a stop sign at the bottom of each one. Gah! Taking PCH sucks worse right there though.

Most definitely preferred the bike route even with it being a bit tough on me.

Yeah, Glennerye only "sucks" in a first-world problem sort of way. It was a beautiful weekend day, we're riding our bikes along the coast of SoCal, and you're complaining about rollers and stop signs?!?

ROFL, that's good. Yeah the "complaining" comment was directed at @TrojanHorse. But even he was happy overall.

As an aside - my rear tire held air overnight, so the sealant took care of it. I found a small puncture about 90 degrees away from the valve. I must have hit something either right near the end of the freeway or on PCH on the way to Breakwater and then we stopped before the sealant could do its magic.

I figured you meant him. Tho I was one who was struggling.

I am actually sad I missed riding on the freeway. I hope we can plan another try in not too distance future..schedules and weather permitting.
