If this guy thinks he has NOS, he's nuts. Or he can't center a wheel in a frame to save his life. Lots of paint rubbed off on the inside of the left chainstay. Paint chipped off from chain-slap on the right chainstay. Paint rubbed off underneath the top of the seat stays? Side of the downtube missing paint as well. I'd expect a lot better for "NOS when I bought it then put 50 miles on it."

Disregarding the description a $160 is a good deal on this frame and fork.

Anyone else following this Claud Butler auction on eBay? It's a real fixer upper but has much potential if the price doesn't get bid up too high. Perhaps I feel that way because it's just my size. Unfortunately the paint is beyond salvaging if you are into original finishes only.

Claud Butler Massed Start Frameset 531 58 cm Rivendell Randonneur Touring | eBay

This Fuso is also intriguing, if the price doesn't get too high, and it's paint and decals look fine. My size exactly.

Dave Moulton Fuso Road Bike 57cm C T Columbus SL Tubing 1986 | eBay

I won't be bidding on either frame because I don't need any more bikes.

I can see that floor in an arid climate where they close schools on account of rain, but not where it rains and snows (salt) regularly.

Yes, I should talk my Dad into one. They live in the hills outside of Austin, TX.

Really tall Mercian. Components are a mixed bag, but nice.

MERCIAN wrong season, right bike

"I have had this beautiful bike for 30 years. I have never ridden a more precise and sound bike. If you are into bikes then you know Mercian does NOT build a cheap bike. I am parting ways with something I have kept in memory of a loved one but I would rather see a collector or rider enjoy this bike. The only thing wrong in the pictures is the seat. The seat for this bike is a vintage leather saddle which fits the origins of this bike not the red and black mongoose seat."

The description for the Cinelli frame is hilarious.

This auction is for a GORGEOUS AND FRESHLY RESPRAYED by Palazolli with Repro decals, late 60's, early 70's, Cinelli Track bike frame. It is very, very sexy and in dire need of some campy parts and a good thrashing. That or you can just be a ***** and watch it collect dust in a dark room somewhere with all the other 'cool' **** you like to own and not use, lol. Either way, you'll be pretty damn stoked to own this fine piece of vintage italian craftsmanship so prepare to dig deep into those pockets..

The ONLY thing you need to be aware of is that there are a few very light chips in the paint on the BB pictured. This obviously isn't any issue as all as once you ream the BB and install a BB and crank you're not going to notice it and if it's really something that bothers you that much you probably aren't in this for the right reason so just go home now..

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU PUT A GODFORSAKEN AEROSPOKE OR BRIGHT NEON ANYTHING ON THIS FRAME I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND MAKE YOU DIE THE SLOWEST OF HIPSTERY DEATHS..

Yup. Couple of those are in my size too. I bet that Herse tops 10k.

Agree on the Herse. I do think his snooty attitude hurts his cause - do buyers of thousand(s) dollar bikes really need to be lectured by a kid complaining about hipsters?

If one of you guys gets the Cinelli, please borrow a green Aerospoke from someone to take pics of bike and email back to seller!

His language is offputting to me too, but I don't think it will hurt his auctions. The essential information is there, the photos present the bikes (and frame) well, and the stuff is VERY desirable. Not to derail the thread, but can anyone tell me about the adjustable toe clips on the Herse?

I don't know if I'm posting this in the right spot but does this look like a good deal? It's a raleigh technium that the guy thought was from the mid to early 90's but I can't tell which technium it is. Pro? Comp? Any help here is appreciated. I tried posting a hyperlink but my phone crashes every time.

That's my impression as well. Anyone who really wants a Herse, and can afford it, wouldn't let the odd text affect their decision IMO.
