1974 Rodriguez.
531 frame, Phil Wood hubs, TA crank, Campy, Huret.
The owner received the bike in return for a favor.
He knew it was a nice bike, but he didn't know how nice.

Like the Cilo I spotted on the previous page, this one is a I-rode-to-the-store-but-didn't-bring-a-lock dealio. I was just exiting the local Safeway when an elderly gent dumped this Voyageur 11.8 in the cart-return area next to the door. If I was a much less honest person, I could have easily acquired a Cilo and a chrome Voyageur with very little effort and no expense!

Since I was driving I couldn't take a pic of it, but as I was headed west on I78 this afternmoon I spied a celeste saddle coming up behind me. Much to my surprise the bike it was attached to was a "87 Bianchi Trofeo with a Formula 2 frame and mix of SR derailleurs, Modolo brakes. It was in beautiful shape and much nicer looking bike that the plastic Pinarello next to it.

I've been going two times each year to Catalonia (Spain technically) for 23 years and this is the first Schwinn I've seen. On the Ramblas of Girona. - 1978 Suburban -

At first I thought that maybe some early bird commuter parked here. But riding in on a holiday at 7:00am, I'm pretty sure the bike lives here. Looks reasonably well loved, and if it was a couple cms larger I would certainly be leaving my name and number in hopes of a sale.

On the last leg of a journey from home base to the British Columbia, then Jamaica and then home, I stumbled across a country estate sale. The guy running the sale told me to look around, pick out what I liked, finishing by suggest I be careful as I climbed into and over and, darn near, under piles of this and that, buildings that were falling down and....

I asked the fellow if there were any old bicycles. He said lots, but be careful. Good advice, the place was an accident, waiting to happen - and it did. Slashed my shin open, but not a mark on my new cargo pants. Anyway...

And not one worth the time it would take to haul it out of the weeds/clutter/mine fields!

A fairly evocative photo essay, however.

Not C&V (to my knowledge, anyway), but C&V-inspired, perhaps.

Looked nice.

I'll bet those are Lambert pedals. Beautiful cast bodies, needle bearings and you simply cannot keep dustcaps on 'em.

Interesting. Somebody stole the front wheel, but left the skewer behind.

Family was in Charleston SC a couple of weeks ago for the first time. It was a little like time travel including the bikes:

They look to me like T.A. pedals with grease fittings.

^^ I've never had any interest in cruisers, but I'd proudly ride that beauty around blinding drivers on a sunny day.
