A week of training on the TT bike leaves me wondering why I decided to take up time trials again....

Two things:
First: Yoga stretching is great. I do it. If something isn't "right" in your body you can feel it and then work on it. The philosophy/metaphysics of it is not my style, though.
Second: I took the day off when intending to do about 1.5 to 2 hours of Z2. Wednesday I killed it and it killed me. Yesterday I spent 4.5 hours pedalling, but it was brake and gas pedal driving back and forth from the far side of Orlando. In between was 7 hours of hands on instruction about how to run some software that I wrote. It was a tough day. After that I was just exhausted today.

72' outside given the nice weather. It was a little bit of this and a little bit of that, such as switching off between high and low cadence, 6' of standing, bursts uphill, spin ups, sprints, etc.
Heart rate transmitter came today and I used it for the first time. I don't currently have a sense of its meaning other than my hr has to be too too high (e.g., some concerted, but not all out, efforts brought me in to the low 200s), which might mean I am way out of shape.
More data, more fun.

sneaked in a ride this afternoon as the road will be s**t tomorrow.
Rode from GWB to base of Bear Mt and back (same ride last week). Averaged 75% FTP for 1hr 50min on the way over, 77% FTP for the 3rd hour, and 80% for the last 50 minutes. Thank goodness i decided to remove HR from my main display as it started out way too high, and i'd have driven myself crazy had i stared at it. My legs actually also didn't feel so good on the way out, but I somehow convinced myself things will be okay even though in the past this meant big trouble.
I started to feel better on the way back and pretty much nailed the last 50 minutes. I guess one thing i realized is that it's a really bad idea to not have ridden for more than 72hrs and hop on to do a hard ride, which would explain why my HR was so high at the beginning.
On a side note, it got really frigging cold after the sun set even though i thought i was properly dressed. Burrrr, still have a full jacket on while trying to warm up.

That sucks big time! I'm disappointed I gotta sit here and do hw/study instead of racing this weekend but I was super tired from the week last night and got a great sleep last night (wouldn't have gotten at if I'd driven to Tally) and would have been freezing my arse off right now and tmrw morning as I definitely wouldn't have thought to bring cold weather clothes

Bulletproof Monk.
Part of first DVD in 2011 Tour.
I couldn't make it to 3:00, too tired, too fatigued. 2:50.
Right now I'm doing ride/rest/ride/rest, doubling up somewhere in the week so Sunday is a ride day. Not eating much after my rides (they usually end between 11PM and 1AM), relying on the off day to recover.

I'll vouch for yoga. So far its helped my flexibility, balance, and core strength. I've gone maybe 1x/week for the past few months.
I'd recommend Vinyasa for anyone looking for yoga to compliment cycling.
After all, aren't we all shooting for Levi's position?

I don't think Levi's position is that radical. He's way forward on the saddle and he's a little guy. I know I have a similar position on the road bike and I'm about the least flexible person around. I have hard time touching my toes but I have a short frame and my drops are about level with my front tire.
Nevetheless point on yoga etc taken.

Warm up, 1.5 hours of tempo, cool down.
Kind of breezy today. It was pretty easy to hold 28-29 mph riding on the hoods with the wind.

90 minutes on the rollers at z1.5. Kind of a rest day ride.
Watched "Our Idiot Brother". Wasn't bad, wasn't good. At least I was riding.

65 quality minutes on the trainer. I'd give myself a 4.5 to 5 out of 10 in terms of where I want to be. It was about a 2 a few weeks ago. I hope that things kick in more at some point within the next 3 weeks.

I did a double workout today. 1:15 on the trainer with some 3x5's, then 3 hours outside attacking the grades.
Day off tomorrow. We're going to NYC to visit our son who turns 21 years old.

107miles, 5h 20m at the Tour de Palm springs with the family today.
First 13 miles: 25-40mph cross/head wind. In the desert...with sand...climbing. 12mph avg. (my skin now feels nice and smooth though)
Next 40 miles: Tailwind descent. Whoo hooo! Should have put on my 11.
Next 54 miles: 10-20mph cross/head wind. Was in the 2nd group fastest group on the road for the 100. Good rotation. Not too bad until the last 15 miles.
Oh...We got lost and added and extra 5 miles following the previous year's route. It included a 350ft climb. Yay!
A few of my friends were in the fastest group and did the normal 102m in 4:20. yikes!
