26% grades hurt, even if just for a block. 20% grades hurt just as much if they go on for 1/4 mile.

Yesterday 2 hours with 2 40 min solid SST intervals. Ran into kensuf and the local group ride randomly right after the first interval, rode with them until they turned off and then did my second interval, which required a few detours before getting home with the insane tailwind.
soon to be gsteinc...

Leg workout yesterday - walking like a penguin again.
Only managed a 545 squat for 4 reps and a 540 pound hack squat for 6 reps - not what I was shooting for so a little disappointed.
Then Ab RipperX
Then on the spin bike for 1:30 with ~45 minutes of climbing.

Got a decent base this winter, but was hoping to do some speed work this weekend. Weather was sucky, so got 3 hrs on the trainer yesterday and 2 hrs today, but couldn't get very motivated to put in many quality efforts ..... I should probably stick to the "training failure status" thread.

Well... I've been assuming I'm fat and out of shape. Been putting out decent numbers on watt-o-meter but, just not "feeling it."
After yesterday's race, I guess I'm not as out of shape as I had feared. Was able to do some work, close some gaps, contest the finish effectively.
Still have weight to lose and work to do.

1:24 today. 22 on the rollers as a warm up then switched to the trainer for SufferFest The Hunted.
Absolutely shelled. Avg 157HR, Max 201. A bit surprised at how quickly I recovered afterwards. Guess all that base building worked.
VirtualPower (trainerroad.com) TSS 120, 1024kJ.

first set of VO2 max intervals of the season. Did only 4 of them (planned 5), and the last one didn't go as well as i'd liked, but it's okay. I think my legs were still feeling it a bit from the long ride on Friday, but i had hope to use this as a starter to lift my aerobic ceiling. Doing some z2/z3 work with short 10 second bursts tomorrow.
Still trying to bring my temperature up to normal as it was effing cold (31F with 19F windchills). I couldn't feel my feet toward the end despite wearing two layers of wool socks. Buurrrrr.

Saturday: 2.5 hours tempo on the rollers.
Sunday: 4.5 hours with 3 x 20' at what was supposed to be 95-100% (190-200w). Ended up doing them at 105%, 110%, and 113% (210w, 220w, 225w), and they felt ****ing fantastic. I set a new 20' PB by 10w, and this is my second threshold workout of the season. (The first one was 1 x 20' last week and I did it at 213w like it was nothing).
Oh, also it was 25 degrees and stupid windy, and it snowed at the end.
I tested on 1/19, and had a really rough go of it. I was dying to hold 210w by the end of the 20', which, while only 5w short of my best 20', and 5w short of what my FTP was at (from an LT test) when I was peaking last July, was still disappointing. My coach said she was psyched about seeing those numbers in January, but I was still feeling down.
I am really really happy with where my fitness is at right now.

where did you do your 3x20's?
it took me a good 75 minutes for my extremities to warm up after i got home. Basically i was in a sleeping bag for a good while. Damn that was miserable. Even worse was the head wind headed back into town, and it felt like my face was getting stabbed. A friend and I traded pulls and we hauled ass trying to averaged 21 on a section with a net elevation loss.

GA -- Congrats! You are going to have a very interesting season!!
Echappist -- Whoosh, I'd have a tough time digging in hard for a workout like that in today's weather.
I turned today into a rest day.

9w. It wasn't that bad out, but maybe that's just because I dressed sort of properly for once (baselayer, LS jersey, vest).
Also, my girlfriend was not at all amused by my riding today.

Today 3 hr low end z2. Nice ride except the cold wind, I've gotten used to the warm weather we've been having lately!
Reasonably Slow...
Yesterday: 1 hr on trainer with 6' efforts @ 100%
Today: 2 hrs on trainer z2 with a couple 20' efforts @ 90%
Too cold outside :-(

TT bike training week is over with only 7.5 hours of bike time. But that is like 30 hours of road bike time to me right now. Easy week and then first race of the year next weekend. I think if I can talk the field into not going above zone 3 next week I might finish well.

I added an hour or so onto today and did some random intervals outside around 3 pm. It was blustery and about 25-30 f, but I was fine. I've gotten used to these temps by now.

Did 10 hrs (base mainly, and 4 of them on one night) last week, about my limit with work and stuff at home. This year is going to hurt.
