Wow, I never thought of it in mm. My Kenda Kwest 1.5 100psi tires are 38mm.

And the usual 1.75's are 44mm and they are 75psi.

I have big ben plus on my recumbent trike. Slightly wider than big apples. they roll well. Can't go much bigger if I use my fenders but at 2.15 I am very comfortable.

If you are looking for very fast puncture resistant 2"/50mm wide 20"/ETRTO406 tires, there are also the excellent Continental Contact Urban that exists in 50x406.

For higher puncture resistance, there are the new Continental eContact Plus that exists in 50x406, 55x406 and even 62x406.

My Bike Friday has 20 inch wheels, so I've been able to use 2.4 inch BMX tires on it. I currently have some fetching pink Salt Plus Sting tires, and I have some knobby Kenda Booster Pros for more serious unpaved rides. If you drop the pressure enough, the Kendas are like velcro. The Salts are heavier and not tubeless compatible, but they are half the price. I have wide rims, and the Kendas are a true 2.4 inches/61mm wide. The Salts are a couple MM narrower. I'll try to get some pictures soon.

honestly there are such a ton of dirt jump and street BMX tires that I don’t think there should be any lack for folders

Indeed, but most of these tires have a poor puncture protection and do not fit well for riding on roads, city streets...

Wide tires for small wheels folding bikes (and actually for almost all bikes) are beneficial.

Riese & Müller understood that long time ago and designed the Birdy frame to accept wide tires.

Brompton didn't and stayed with 35x349 high pressure tires while Kinetics and Eerder Metaal are making custom fork and rear triangles allowing wide tires.

And these wide tires are not only good for comfort and versatility they can also provide lower rolling resistance if couple with a relatively high pressure like for the Greenspeed Scorcher and TruBlu 40x349 and 40x406 race tires.

Vee Crown Gem 57-305/16x2.25 with knobs shaved almost off, stretched out to 67mm on a 50mm wide rim from the trailer range. That is my best match on that bike for occasional offroad, unpaved paths. The frame clears also 16x3.0, but the tire i tried was way too heavy and stiff, Chaoyang Sparrow. The bike is meant for 406 wheels and in this setup the BB height is 27cm.

The Origami Swift comes standard with 50-406 tires, and there is room to go bigger.

On the Xootr Swift, the rear dropout is horizontal. I had to add Surly Monkey Nuts to be able to fit 50 mm tires. With fenders, it won't go above that. I like that used a more standard drop out.

On both of my Hooligans(not folders, though) I installed MTB 20" wheels to accommodate wider tires. These are 20x2.35 tires on the bikes
