Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good one!

No, the yellows aren't close to matching. Perhaps they'll get closer as the bar tape fades... Until then, I'm going to have to believe they're different enough to call them complimentary:

The Technomic stem is in past the line. This is a rider for me. The seat will likely rise 1 or 2 cm, and hopefully I'll lose enough weight and gain enough flexibility to lower the stem as well.

Thanx for all the pun!

No and no. Bryan Park starts a little too early. I can't get there in time. Dan333 races those. The races are on YouTube. He's on the Sweet Spot Cycling team. Tall, dark headed guy on a black Trek with orange shoes. Bryan Park is like a NASCAR super speedway. The racing is boring. If you can make it, the Newport News Twilight Crit is the one to do. Look at it on YouTube. Pedal to the medal on kind of a figure 8 course. Lots of accelerations. You either have it or you don't. If you don't, you're out quickly.
I've only been a runner/cyclist since about 2010. I had to quit the court sports because of Plantar Fasciitis, so I became an endurance athlete. Mediocre MOP to BOP at best, but it's something to do. I could probably be a good track cyclist, but the closest track to us is 300 miles to the north or 300 miles to the south. Anyway, time to run.

Ive done the twilight crit and the todd stadium crit, langley, hampton, just havnt done bryan park yet. I’ve seen Dan just havnt talked to him in person yet.

Monster cross will be my first gravel, looking forward to it. Kind of leaning towards just doing gravel. I joined THR 2 years ago now I think.

It's amazing how wrong you all are about the polished silver rims.

I hate the look of silver brake tracks on black rims.

There's lots of black on the bike, and I think in order to offset that, I would look into an aluminum seat post and aluminum spacers under the stem.
That's been the balance I'm trying to achieve. I've got all silver parts for the cockpit, but trying to figure out what to put where has been a challenge. I thought about silver spacers but would think it would draw a bunch of attention to the 50mm stack under the stem. Most annoying thing for me at the moment is that all the black parts don't have the same finish. Fork is matte, headset top cap is gloss, spacers are gloss but carbon so a bit lighter, etc.

Also that Salsa seatpost has the best adjustment mechanism I've ever used.

Steerer yet to be trimmed

Billet cassette clearanced to fit on 7s cassette body, OLD pushed out to 132, pretty minimal dish with the OCR. Pedals shaved to minimum stack height, buckles deleted from straps

Number of the beast

I have another one of these, but a size too large. Looked for one in this size forever since, pretty much gave up. Then I shaved all the cable guides and made it full internal Di2 with 9000; that bad boy weighs 6.14 with 50mm deep tubulars...

Less than a year after that, I found another one in the right size. Gonna have to repeat the surgery at some point... Probably with the addition of internal brake cable; I think I have that nearly figured out.

Only LAJ actually gets it:

I don't have anything against polished silver rims. Got 3 or 4 sets of them. Sometimes you can mix and match. Sometimes you have to make a choice. Sometimes neither is right and you have to go a different direction. When you have both chrome/silver and black on the bike, I think black rims with silver tracks tie it all together. I could be wrong.

Well, the rear is a tricolour; that's dark grey. The other bike like this was built up with the same gear except a 7400 rear to go with the 7700 front, and along with the pedals, I thought the silver bits went alright with the metal decals... Bit of silver on the Red derailers too.

Your paintjob is bangin'. But your position has no drop, and it's stock as a rock. Maybe take off the tool bag and bottles, and try to shoot it from an angle that makes the bars look lower?
