Do I have it all?

I will probably be switching my Allez from a 2x8 to a 2x9 and think I will need to pick up the following but am I missing anything? I was just going to upgrade the shifters, to get away from that dang thumb shifter currently on it, but then realized if I am changing shifters I could upgrade other parts for not too significantly much more.
I will need to pick up shifters, rear derailleur, rear cassette, and a new chain. I currently am running the stock wheels (Mavic cxp22) will I need to upgrade those to fit this conversion? What about a front derailleur? I do wish to remain with Shimano.

You may be able to get your front mech to work. But some times it just doesnt quiet work. it just depends how picky you are on shifting and how narrow or wide your 8 speed mech is. You may be able to grab a 9 speed mech for not to much. The rear mech may not even need to be changed. I am Not sure if shimano changed the pull ratio of the rear mech between 8-9 speed ,someone else may chime in about that. And your stock wheels will work fine

Try your existing RDER first. I have 8 speed RDER's shifting 9 speed just fine.

Your existing rear derailleur and hubs should work fine. Shimano 8 and 9-speed road and MTB rear derailleurs are all mix-and-match with their 8 and 9-speed rear shifters. Your 8-speed freehub will accept a 9-speed cassette (or a 10-speed for that matter) with no other changes. You will definitely need new shifters, cassette and chain. The current front derailleur may work, particularly if you don't change the crank. At worst you will need a newer 9-speed one but try the old one first.

No reason the rear derailleur shouldn't work fine. However, why not go 10 speed if you are buying all that anyways. Better deals on 10 speed than 9 right now.
True, crank may or may not work.

10 speed typically just adds another unusable small cog and "features" faster wear and the need for a narrower chain.
