Having fun running my mouth over on the Velodrome forum. I need to shutup. This could end up with someone from the the 33 calling me an idiot....

So I go to San Diego Airport last night to pick up my wife in the new car. SAN has a couple of charging stations in the short term parking and my plan was to park there and get a free charge. Nooooooohhh. There were two BMW plug in hybrids hogging the chargers. I thought for a moment of unplugging one and plugging mine in but thought that is just rude.
Also, the cars are too smart to let one do that. It takes a car key to unlock the plug from the car once it starts charging and even after it is finished.
After we got home, I plugged in the car to the charger via a standard 120 v connection and it charged overnight. Oh well, back to paying for electricity.

The Chevy Bolt has intrigued me since it was announced. If it ONLY had 400 mile range....

We saw the play Cake last night at the La Jolla Playhouse. It is a really good play with exquisite acting. The lead female actress won a Tony last year and she was amazing.
The story is very current since it was inspired by the recent Supreme Court arguments where a couple sued a local bakery because the bakery would not make them a wedding cake because they were gay. The court has yet to rule on the case.
The play follows the theme of the suit but leaves out the politics and the actual suit itself. It is about the tension between different regions of the county in the views on gays and gay marriage. It highlights the emotions and inner conflict that the characters experience as the try to address being gay and planning a wedding in a southern highly religious, bible quoting south and interacting with people they love and who love them but are torn apart by sexual preference and religious beliefs.
Overlaid on this raw display of emotion was very well timed humor that offered a respite from the heavier dramatic interactions.
My prediction is that this play will go to Broadway. It is just too good not too.

Sounds interesting, @Hermes.
Our favorite quirky local production was something we saw in some tiny maybe-50-seat theater a few years ago called Pulp Shakespeare. It was the plot of Pulp Fiction but set in Shakespearean times with Shakespearean diction and costuming and sets/props. It was hilarious. We were both surprised that it never became the Next Big Thing. Maybe it can’t, if it borrows someone else’s plot...

La Jolla Playhouse, under its artistic director has had several plays make it to Broadway. We get season tickets each year and there is always a couple of standout productions. The last one that I saw that went to Broadway was Tommy. We saw it at the Playhouse and in New York. It was a musical based upon the Rock Opera Tommy by the Who.

So been off the grid for a bit. Had a great trip to NYC couple of weeks ago. Got to hang with GStein and his wife one night, several good meals, and Mrs. Ex scored tickets to "Hamilton", which made all the hype seem like they were being faint in their praise. I've seen quite a few Broadway shows and this was hands down the best.
Home for a week tying up loose ends then I went in for spine surgery last Friday. Things did not go quite as planned, actually "rough" would be a decent description. What had been an outpatient procedure last time I had this turned into 3 days in the hospital. Back home, all is proceeding well. If anyone needs 28 surgical staples, let me know.
Because I need that last punch for a free sandwich, I go in Monday to have them pull the hardware out of my foot. So let me up that offer to 28 staples and 4 bolts.
In the mean time, I'm walking a couple of miles a day, and keeping my fingers crossed that I'm back on the bike getting jiggy with it in April.
My new theme song:

I just love "experts". The louder you yell the more right you are, correct? Thought so....

So while I was recovering from the spine surgery and sleeping on a nail gun strip I figured I'd kill two birds with one recovery period, and had them yank the hardware out of my foot. End result:
Went quick and easy. Walking, albeit gingerly on the foot while the incisions heal. Strip comes out of the back this afternoon. Have to turn in my Cyborg Discount.

Yesterday I worked out at the track and today I went to the golf driving range getting ready for my trip to Mallorca where I plan on playing golf as well as cycling.
There was a younger guy a couple of stalls down with whom appeared to be his coach. All of a sudden, the coach put the guy in a hammer lock and picks the golfer up off his feet and shakes him. He then has the golfer fold his arms and he does it again.
I am watching this unfold and the guys look over at me and the golfer says that the coach is his chiropractor. I said, hey, I have a bad back and that is exactly what I need. The doc laughs and says, I would not believe that you have a bad back you are crushing the ball.
We had a quick 1 minute discussion on back and the importance of strong glute muscles. The doc says that was Tiger Woods problem. Wood's glutes got too weak and shifted a disproportionately amount of force to his back during the golf swing.
Strong glutes are the key to a healthy back...at least in theory and maybe practice.
I was hitting the ball as good as ever and my back felt great.

@racerEx - Save that stuff, you know you'll need it to fix something in the house.

R'ex, I would definitely ask for the staples to add to your collection of surgical bling. I am going on record that the surgical bling competition is a competition that I want to lose.
