I replaced the seat post clamp to add the upper rack mounts, sunlite 31.8mm $12 and Tubus Evo Rack Hardware $16 from bikebagshop to get:

Specialized has "Plug and Play" fenders which slide into through holes in the dropouts, but also provide lugs for other brands:

That seat clamp replacement great! I'll check out the fenders but I doubt they will work on my 2012 Sirrus. As long as I don't ride on wet road then I'm good.

Too good looking. I've got more pictures of it than miles on it (only 53 so far.)

Nice bike! How does a fender attach to the fork?

There is a hole in the fork, front to back.

Anyone know where the standover height is measured? The top tube starts out high by the handlebars but then takes a pretty quick drop near the seat area, I'm curious where Specialzied did the measurement?

Specialized usually measures to "effective top tube". Where the tube would be if it were level.

Seeing this string is a constant thorn in my side, N+1....... I think I will stop by the LBS and drool for awhile - there is a -30F windchill here this morning, -10 actual, so no test riding.................. which is probably a good thing! Maybe take a box of donuts..........

If you straddle your bike with your feet on the ground and the seat nose up against your back, That's where standover height is relevant and that's where Specialized measures it.

This is one of two bikes I am considering for winter riding. I am looking for something that can do both trail and road. During winter here in Colorado, the trails I like to mountain bike on are often covered in snow or muddy, so I want something I can do some mileage runs around the neighborhood or some fireroads/double track or ride to the gym instead of driving....that sort of thing. I want something lighter than my full-suspension mountain bike for simple non-gnarly trails.

I first started looking at cyclocross and "gravel bikes" like the Specialized Diverge Elite A1, but then stumbled across the Sirrus Comp Carbon Disc. Being a mountain biker, the flat bars appealed to me. Have any of you Sirrus owners ridden it on any light trails yet and, if so, how does it handle? I have seen some say that it is fine for light trail rides, but I've also seen other say "no way". One guy Specialized didn't recommend it for regular trail riding, but then another guy at Specialized did. Though I see myself riding whichever of these two bikes I end up getting mainly on the road, but I'd definitely be taking it on trail. What say you?

Brilliant bike: got mine over the weekend and the comfort is unreal (find the saddle extremely comfy) - pleasure to cycle and super light.

Seems heavy for a carbon bike

My wife has a medium Schwinn Supersport GSX, and its too big for her. I'd love to get her a Sirrus Elite Carbon (small!), but her current bike is 24 lbs and its 6061 aluminum, with a triple up front and 28mm tires. Are you sure on the weight? "It is exactly 24 pounds (large frame) " that just seems so heavy for a carbon bike. What do you think is attributing to the weight - the tires maybe?

I just picked one of these up a few days ago for my first bike. I've ridden about 50 miles on it so far and I really like it. some notes:

i thought the the seat was a little hard at first but I've since gotten used to it. I love the handle extensions as my arms get tired holding the same spot. My hands got a little numb on longer rides. Not sure why. I wish the bike was a little lighter but it's not bad. I have a medium I think it's about 23 lb 11 oz or so. Maybe I will eventually look at upgrading some components. I ride some mixed terrain, light dirt and some sand. The tires slide a lot in these elements. I think I need to look at a better tire. Any suggestions? Also the chain is picking up a lot of dirt and sand so I'm looking into some cleaner/lube.

When i I first brought it home I had to take off the front rim to make it fit. When I got home the brake was rubbing. So I had my first scare, but I did some research and figured out how to push the brakes back. Pretty easy. I am learning!

I was looking into mountain bikes or front suspension but I'm glad I went with a hard tail. This seems perfect for my needs except for the tire issue.

Morning Alan,

I just ordered the 2016 Sirrus Elite Carbon. You still happy with your purchase? Anything I should know? Do you ride with a group? Can you keep up with the Sirrus? I heard some riding groups don't like riders with flat bars. Has that been your experience?

BTW, I'm up in Jupiter, FL

Thanks, Glenn

Disc brakes is one reason
The wheels/spokes are heavier/stronger to handle the stress from the center of the wheel out to the tires.

My wife's GSX was 24 LBS, with disc brakes.

I know this is an old thread but . . . Where did you get the frame lugs? I have the same bike and am looking to add a rack. And, what rack is that?

Frame Lugs for Specialized Elite Carbon

The frame lugs came with the bike - I asked "what are these holes down here for?" and the owner told me the holes were for fender lugs in the bag with the owners manual.

The rack is an Axiom Transit - I didn't use the insertable lugs, I "stretched" the rack a little wider and used the threaded holes in the frame. Check the photos to see how it worked.

Thanks. So you used the mounting hardware that came with the rack instead of the lugs? Am I understanding you correctly?
