Jersey sizing- chest or stomach?

Simple question, should a jersey be sized for chest, or stomach? I wear bright t shirts when riding now, but it would be nice to have some pockets sometimes, too.

Go with the larger measurement and reference the chart. If your chest puts you in an XL but your belly puts you in a XXL go with the XXL.

What size t-shirt do you wear? If you get a "club" jersey, get that size.

Unless it's a Hincapie jersey. The 3X Hincapie that was too small when I wore a 2X in everything else is only snug now that I'm into a XL. I might be able to wear it if I make it down to a size L.

It might be worth a visit to your friendly LBS (or REI) to see if they have something that'll fit you.

I wouldn't generalize, I have a couple 2XL hincapie jerseys that fit me nicely and my usual jersey size is 2xl. I have a couple Castelli 2XL jerseys that won't fit me after I've decomposed for 6 months, but they're climber's jerseys... so the fit varies within a brand depending on the jersey model, which is super freaking awesome for buying jerseys.
