It took me close to an hour to put together that half assed collage from this site

once you zoom in far enough click on the ariel view button on the left, that'll give you the satelite image of Toronto (post your route once you get the images pasted together...richmond hill is quite the hike if you commute downtown everyday)

Isn't there a site somewhere that will generate a similar image for you if you upload a GPS track? Or have all those I've seen been generated using pro GIS software?

Hmm. If you mean the ones on posted below, then the answer for me is no. I did something similar to what the original poster (rykoala?) did: downloaded the images from Microsoft's Terraserver, and then assembled them like a puzzle and drew in the route with a paint program.

Joining in because this thread is so cool.
Commute
Only 5.0 miles one way but usually varies to 9.9-10.3 round trip depending on when I reset the computer trip log
I marked Epcot (Disney World) on the map in case anyone has visited Orlando, FL just to put the map in perspective for some people. Magic Kingdom and all the rest of the Disney property is further to the left.

Cool view!
Speaking of mosquitoes, but not commute related, I did do a charity ride about a month ago and we stopped for all of 30 minutes to let another group catch up and I think I had 20+ mosquito bites on my legs the next day

Here is my commute route, the red is the ride in and the blue is the way home. I take the Custis trail in in the morning, its 5.5 miles and is an easy ride for the mornings. On the way home I take a combination of the Mount Vernon trail and the W&OD trail for a total of about 14.5 mile ride home. Its a great ride home with a nice views of the DC monuments across the Potomac on the MV trail and a nice wooded trail on W&OD trail.

Too fun. I'll toss mine in as well:

Not a commute - it's just the recycling/grocery run, and only about six miles on the blue route (the red section is an alternate route just for variety). Starts from my home at the end of the bridge on the far right.

Here's mine- it's along the Willamette river which is long and windy, so I had to use the photostitch software that came with my digital camera to stich multiple views together. The yellow line is all bike/ped path along the river, and the red line is the portion I have to ride on the road.
Portland commute - Sellwood to just north of downtown.

OK, this looked like fun, so I thought I'd throw mine into the mix.
My commute (when I take it)
The image is about 150KB, and my commute is around 6 miles (fairly short from what I am seeing.) It runs from Wheaton to Carol Stream, passing through Glendale Heights, Bloomingdale, and the Stratford Mall parking lot near the end. I have some pretty residential streets to ride on, but need to do a block or two of dirt and mud when a few of the streets end, and I do ride the sidewalk for about three blocks along a pretty busy uphill stretch of the road with no shoulder (no sense tempting fate).
All in all, a fairly easy commute which I usually do in about 30 minutes on the way there (don't want to push too hard). When I drive, it takes about 20 minutes, so there isn't really much difference except in how I feel when I am done.

Too short to commute by bike. I walk instead.
Half of my commute is getting from the back door of the plant to my office in the front of the building and up the stairs.
Couldn't resist!

I think a unicycle with a rear danish rack and front coffee rack would be
an excellent choice of commuter for you. Knobby tires, of course, for
those icy days.
mmmm ... daaannnish.
