Tern Link D8 - Front Brake caliper length
Hi,
I have to replace the front brake calipers of my Tern Link D8. I am looking at this from Litepro.
There are two arm lengths mentioned - 82 mm and 102 mm. Which one should I buy.
Thanks in advance.
Jacob

Reach is the distance between the hole in the fork crown and the brake track on the rim ..
Measure and report..

If you have mudguards, you want a longer arm.
My dahon came with 110mm long OEM dahon branded arms that look like Tektro 857AL.
I recently switch to 107mm Shimano BR-T4000, which has less play and feels much smoother and consistent than the tektro.
I could probably go as low as 104mm but the rubber noddle end stopper might rub on the top of the mudguard.
But this also depends on how high Tern mounts the brake arm boss in relation to the wheel/fork.
So I would not get either the 82mm or 102mm.

Thanks TomTomTom123! I do have mudguards that are not installed.
I got back from my travels and measured the calipers. Cable clamp bolt to mounting hole (center to center) is 110mm.
Am i correct in assuming that means that i have 110mm calipers?
Thanks and Regards,
Jacob

Yes. If you want to know what the minimum size you can use with a mudguard, insert the mudguard into the fork and measure the gap between the brake noodle rubber stopper and the top of the mudguard. Subtract that from the length of the current brake arms.

Also, Dahon bikes sometimes use brake bosses are that incompatible in length with other brands of brake arms, such as Shimano, so you may need to add spacers. Tern probably uses the same bosses.
You can check the modifications that I had to make to fit Shimano brakes here:

Thanks tomtomtom123!
I had responded to your post the very next day of you posting. Its seems to be lost on the interweb!
The missing post...
.... Thanks for the guidance. Appreciate it!
On another note, I think solved the issue for which i wanted to replace the calipers. The issue was that the shoe on one side was dragging on the rim. I tried adjusting spring tension centering screw without success. I finally solved the issue by bending the spring to increase tension. I did a 10 Kms ride and the fix is holding up.
Now i have time to research more before i buy new brake calipers!!
