Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Far west Chicago suburbs. Any tips?

Thanks.

There are a few. In St. Charles, just to the north of Geneva, there are three new shops. Bicycle Heaven, The Bike Shop, and Sammy's. All the European brands will be covered by these three. There's also Mill Race Cyclery in Geneva that carries Giant, Felt, and Cannondale. Then there is the Bike Rack in St. Charles that is a big Trek shop.

Hope this helps.

Sammy's carries Bianchi, Del Rosa, Merkyx, Jamis and Colnago and some other nice eye-candy. Sammy will talk your ear off if he's not too busy. Bike shop carries: Willier, Scott, BMC, Felt, Orbea and Schwinn. Talk to Chris or John both ar esuper nice guys. Haven't been in Bicycle Heaven since they moved but I see Marin and Isaacs in the window everyday when I drive by. Bike rack carries Trek, Lemond and the rest of the Trek line.

If you can get down to Batavia, Prairie Path Cycles carries a LOT of Trek and LeMond bikes.

Very road oriented: the team they sponsor was the top ranked Amateur squad in the NRC in 2006.

Thanks. I should have specified that I'm all set on bikes but am looking for a great service department.

Bartlett - Spin Doctor CycleWerks. They did work on a couple of bikes years ago and I was quite happy with the results. Deal with the owners.

Doesnt Mike Farrell have a shop in Winfield? Maybe thats the Prarie Path shop in Batavia I'm thinking of.

There used to be a nice bike shop in South Elgin. Is it still there?

Mike Farrell would be the co-owner of Prairie Path Cycles in Batavia, and the owner of Prairie Path Cycles in Winfield.

Having graduated and moved back home to Winfield, and given ABD's record over the years, I'll let you take a stab at who I race for now.

Mission Bay Multisport was in South Elgin, and they had a pretty nice shop, but I heard they moved out of the area.

You don't mean this Mike Farrell, do you?

Anyway, headed to Prairie Path in Batavia after work today. Thanks for the tips.
