1977 Austro-Daimler, 531 and black Dura Ace

Super nice A-D Vent Noir on craigslist, $425, https://raleigh.craigslist.org/bik/d...710544655.html
I've seen this bike in person and its outstanding. It appears to be all original, great shape, and very low usage. Looks like first year black Dura Ace group. The crank rings have a beautiful drilled pattern, original factory work. Very little work to get this on the road or a great complete original bike for a collection.

Seller's description:
For Sale is my 1977 Austro-Daimler Vent Noir Road Bike in very good condition. The bike appears to be complete and original. Shimano Dura Ace group, hubs, head set, brake calipers and levers and front derailleur. The rear Derailleur is Shimano Crane long cage for touring. Dura Ace crank set and Bottom Bracket. Campagnolo pedals with Christophe toe clips and straps. Rims are 27" and are Tubulars. Bar end shifters are Suntour. Top Tube length is 59cm, Seat Tube length is 62cm. Paint is in excellent condition, wheels are true with little sign of wear. The original Brooks saddle is in great condition and will restore well. I can provide more pictures if needed.

Trivia question (maybe Bianchigrll knows?) did Bianchi have their JP contract builders do the "usual" practice of making frames with heavier down tubes, even when using Ishiwata or Tange tubing?

It was one of the few Japanese bikes offered in Celeste until the around '87 for the Grizzly and the '88 Sport SX, The catalog doens'y show a Clesete '82, black only, but the '83 and '84 did come in celeste. However the decals on this appear to be replacement as are the shifters. I'm pretty sure this is an '83 model.

Yes to the best of my knowledge, and the stickers on the bikes, lots of the Japanes and Taiwanese bikes were buiult in SuperSet style. I'll have to try and look to be sure about the Prestige bikes for the early '90s.

it's a Torelli mtb with a full Deore MT60 group. The frame is probably Japanese or Taiwanese in origin. Solid deal at that price point.

Looks like a Tange Infinity and made in Japan sticker on seat tube. Chainstay rear brake so I'm guessing 26".

If that BB happens to be 74mm, the spindle alone could be worth the total ask.

No expert and realize the crank is BSO level but that frame is cool as ef regardless.

Somebody run , don't walk, get in the choppa.

Might be considered a good deal by 50th Anniversary fans. Can’t assess condition from pictures.
Cheers,

Nice. I suppose the 1st year is worth something like this now. Maybe a little less though, I suspect.

I emailed the seller, he has mostly Park tools left. Since his stand was super cheap some of the tools might be reasonable....

Per his email:

Cone wrenches, headset wrenches, chain whips, chain tool, pedal wrenches. Most are Park Tools.
I had a bicycle yard sale last weekend, sold a bunch of bikes & tools but still have some left.
If you’re interested you are welcome to drop by.

Got the chopper fired up and brought the Bianchi home. it's an interesting one. I wish it had all the original parts. Haven't done a full inventory yet, but the DS crank has been switched out to a double, there is now a Huret RD (As opposed to which Campy set-up it was supposed to be), newer seat, I think it should have had wooden rims, but is has Mavis's. But a lot of the parts look original. I was supposed to play with the Hetchins tomorrow, but figuring this thing out will probably be on the docket. Thanks @Peugeotphil for pointing this one out. I think this is the third bike I bought that you I'd.
