When I was in middle and high school, certain a**holes would loosen peoples quick releases. The on time someone did it to me, I caught it while unlocking my bike. From then on, I checked them before getting on my bike ever ride.

I have a carbon fork on my Calfee that was manufactured somewhere between 2003 and 2005 that was made without lawyer lips. I don't think anyone would make them this way now though.
