Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Campy says they will never make a disc brake

Campagnolo CEO: 'We will never make a disc brake' - VeloNews.com
“I’d sooner drink a Pinot Grigio from California than have disc brakes on my road bikes.”

Pinot Grigio is way overrated.

“Valentino believes that to stop too fast it is no good.” When pressed, the company insider explained, “It is not Italian to stop quickly. One most stop slowly, observing the riders around him, the spectators at the side of the road. Do not rush what should not be rushed.”

Rim brakes are simply the more ingenious solution, so I agree with them. Plus, disc brakes are ugly, italians don't do ugly (or maybe they can make them beautiful..? ).

I think you should take a look at the new new Campy crankset and reconsider your statement.

Campy is competing with Shimano to see who could make the ugliest crankset.

Who do you think is winning?

From what I could see, it was just a carbon crank with four fastening-thingies.. Looked fine, so that couldn't've been it.

This makes me more likely to use Campy [Have never tried it yet] when I get and build-up a vintage Eye-talian frame as my next bike. Does Campy still make downtube shifters? (I'll most likely be buying older, used components, anyway- but just curious...)

Yay, Campy! (Too bad they wouldn't have resisted making electronic shifters, too!)

I don't care how they work, I want to be able to exhange parts between my bikes. Disc brakes ruin that idea. Of course, like big companies such as apple, millions of dollars are to be made by forcing customers buy new components. Call it progress but, I've personally not had a problem stopping with conventional brakes

I thought it seemed non-sequiteur for a company which is fully on-board with electronic shifting!

Seeing the new Shimano design enough has caused it to grow on me, too. Looks modern.

reminds me of the something Pininfarina would have done
