Sweet, I made it in due to a drop out.
I was told payment would be direct deposit.
3000 + 25/day*55 days + 800 travel = 5175 - taxes. I think I payed 4000 dollars or so the last time I did a tour

Maybe there was a felon in our midst, and it was a forced dropout! Great for you, Dan! See you in NYC.

I am also bringing Chico, my dog. I think that was what clinched my last minute spot despite having given them a bogus phone number. The recruiter seemed to think it would add some spice to the group. It will be an adventure dragging his ass (45 lbs) along.

Haha, wow. Kind of exciting. What breed is Chico!? And a picture is necessary at this point IMO!

Thanks for the pic. He is cute.
If he can pull on a rope, I know two old guys he could help pull up the hills.

You got a rejection letter? Anyone else? I got nothing! Sheesh, now I'm wondering if they got my application letter(s) at all.... oh, well! My wife got a fellowship this summer, so someone's got to stay home with the kids and the dogs....

rhm, I also didn't receive any rejection/response. It's too bad that we can't be part of it, but I wish all the bikeforums riders a safe and amazing ride!!

Absolutely. I'm glad Bikeforums will be well represented, by on-line friends no less, and I plan to enjoy the tour vicariously.

Even though they were enthusiastic about me bringing a dog originally, now I am hearing that it might not be logistically possible because of hotels and events in the city. It would definitely take some of the fun out of it to leave him behind.

Actually, it's Nota-problem! Just tell Nick that, if he'll let me tag along with all you guyz, on my bike, I'll be happy to stay back (at campsites, if necessary) and look after Chico, while you guyz go off and do all your fancy hotel stays and media promotions things.
*Hmmm..."43Ride", that has a nice ring to it*
