Thanks Brother, I feel absolutely stronger now than I did before my surgery. Breathing was my biggest problem when I began riding but its all sorted out now. I actually feel like I do do 20 miles more each day its just that I don't have the time as I am homeschooling my grandkids. Also attempting to get as many miles in as possible before the cool wet weather returns, so far it hasn't and so riding early in the morning and riding once again in the afternoon has been extremely pleasant. Once the temps get below 60 in the morning not only is it too cool for me but its also too wet and so I won't ride; those days I'll try to do 30 miles in the p.m. as long as there is light.

Hoping for a typical mild and dry southern style winter.

Monthly Goal: 600 miles

11/10 - 31 mi.
11/11 - 31 mi.
11/13 - 42 mi.
11/14 - 43 mi.
11/15 - 41 mi.

MTD: 238 mi.

Pretty decent headwind on the 20 mile return made it seem like an endless ride. But gosh, we’re getting some nice weather now!

This is my problem too, but it’s with my feet. When I get over 1,000 miles per month, my feet really take a beating - and they tell me. Staying off the bike a few weeks really helped. My aging body can only take so much, I guess. Still, compared to the average couch potato? Naw, never happen...I love riding too much.

My goal was to simply stay on the bike. I'm struggling - I'm a teacher, and our local school board is a group of angry white-hairs who dislike teachers and want schools to be open as we have a hellish surge going in the Rio Grande Valley. People I know are hospitalized and dying, and their reaction: "we need staff to rise to the occasion." That's a verbatim quote.

As a matter of context, we are the only school district in the immediate region that has even tried to stay open.

Every morning a new email brimming with hostility from our 'leaders.' And of course, my students are suffering terribly. Adolescents don't do well with isolation.

And so the anxiety has mounted. Coupled with unseasonable cold, I'm in the garage, learning Zwift. Which is good in some ways (brutal workouts, good social aspect) but also reinforces that I'm stuck inside.

I'll be glad if I can ride 10 times this month, regardless of mileage.

Nice day (a bit windy), and a nice ride, but boy did I get dropped by a much faster rider on the same bike (you know the tall, thin wire-y type, LOL! I hope to salvage this month with at least 600 miles, which wasn't looking good at all just a few short days ago.

That does not sound like a fun environment. I hope your situation improves. 2020 just keeps on giving.

I’m in winter mode .
so it’s whatever I can ride before my aching knees say it’s enough .
I’d forgotten what mid 50’s and below feels like on my bike . Feels great walking . Won’t be long before I’m going to wish for a 50 degree high .
They’ll be some warmers days I’m sure .
going to try and ride 30 minutes on the sunnier days .

Monthly Goal: 600 miles

First ride to work where I had to stay and work all day. So, first ride home during rush hour. And first bike with panniers laden with laptop, work clothes, etc., which made more of a difference than I expected. But on the plus side, the commute is actually a full 13 miles once you ride the length of the plant to the bike rack. Wish they'd let me ride inside, I could rack up some serious mileage.over the course of a day that way. I don't think I'm going to make 600 this month.

Took my bike in for a tuneup Tuesday afternoon and picked it up Wednesday afternoon and rode it home. It’s like a new bike. The rear derailleur had been not shifting, and I had been riding it as a single speed. He cleaned it well, cleaned out the brifters to get it to shift and put on new brake pads. I think I have had this bike for 10 years+ and this is the first time anyone but me has worked on it. I originally bought it as a frame from Bikes Direct and built it up. Had the tuneup done at a little one man shop called Latinis in Plano. Highly recommend him if you are in the Dallas area. Like a lot of other shops he is backed up for maintenance but he has a system where you make an appointment a couple of weeks out, but drop the bike off the day before so you don’t have to do without for 2 weeks.

In the past I would never pay for bike maintenance, but as I have gotten older sometimes it’s just easier to pay the man.
