New member first post.

Hi all. I have lurking for a few weeks and just joined. I am getting back into riding after about 20 years off.

I recently bought a restomod based on a Colner and also am in the process of acquiring a Focus with Suntour Componants which will remain.

I will post photos soon.

Welcome Maru. As John E said the said, this site is great for learning more about your bikes, different issues and solutions, and to get exposed to a lot of new bikes. Most importantly it provides an outlet to look, learn, and communicate with a good group of people that have a interest in older bikes.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am amazed at the wealth of info available here.

I am in the process of trying to acquire another bike from a Friend in California.

it is a Japanese Focus which I hope to use as a light tourer. The bike seems pretty cherry and won’t need much as near as I can tell.

I have a hard time leaving things alone and plan on upgrading the tires, a leather seat, some leather bags front and rear.

the holdup so far has been on shipping costs which seem unreasonable but may go down after the Christmas rush.

I am getting back into riding after about 20 years off.
Hello Maru and welcome to Bike Forums. You and I share the same "got at it again" story. For me, after not riding for twenty years, I got back into riding twenty years ago. Been riding and restoring bicycles ever since.

After deciding to give up smoking, I bought a Canadian Tire Supercycle for $260.00 cnd + tax (not really all that super, if you ask me), with hopes of getting back into shape (used to wrestle many many years ago). Anyway, my NotsoSupercycle lasted for about a week before bottom bracket failure occured. Though I do not have any pictures of that bike, it was identical to these, which were tossed at my local dump during the summer past...

But, even though I was not riding a decent bike, all those years ago, I fell in love with riding again. My next purchase was a Giant mountain bike ($1,500.00+ cnd) which I put thousands of miles on. It lives in Jamaica now and, again, no pictures - sorry.

Then I discovered vintage road bikes, most of which could be had for free where I live. And I got hundreds, perhaps thousands of vintage road bikes, over the years. All, but a few, are gone now. These days, I still do a few thousand kilometers each winter in Jamaica. My ride there, an early eighties Bianchi Touring...

What do I ride in Canada, these days? Either my 2000 Marinoni Piuma or my 1968 Legnano Grand Premio...

And next summer, if I make it, I will ride this recently restored 1958 Rabeneick 120d and this late sixties Torpado, that I am restoring right now...

So, once again, welcome to the Bike Forums and be sure to develop an understanding of N+1.

Thanks guys. I tried to give each of you a more personal response with quotes from your responses but I don’t have enough posts to do that. Lol.

I will get there. Steve
