Title says it all. If it were my size, I would keep it. The last year of the high end steel Treks, the next year Trek fell in love with bonded aluminum.

Paint is mostly excellent, a few scrapes here and there with some touch up. Some minor corrosion on top tube cable guides, not much.

Blue and white beauty! Well described on the vintage Trek site,

$175 plus ship and pack: $40 east of the MS, $45 west of there, $50 to the west coast.

TT measures 58cm ctc. Serial #233619, which matches a 1986 Trek 700 with a 24 inch frame.

Nice price for a nice frame. Similar to the 760 / 770 models but with slightly different geometry.

Yes if it was 55cm to 55cm I would be keeping it myself. I really prefer finding bikes that are not my size so as to minimize the temptation. Even then I hold on to the good stuff way too long.

Rode a 86 tri 500 for several years, relaxed geometry and more akin to a sport tourer so not sure why it was sold as a tri! Probably just the angle of picture but the left dropout looks a bit off.

Google vintage trek, go to site, select the 1986 brochure, scroll to page 19 for full specs. The tri frames are the exact same geometry as 400 and 520 touring models so long chainstays and relaxed geometry. Standover on my 24in 500tri was 34in on pumped tires, generally 6 ft minimum on rider height.

Hate to see a 24in lugged trek without a home, and the 700 tri is a nice frameset. But the 1978/9 512 picked up from sloar earlier this summer was my one keeper trek rescue for the year.
