On a limb - quality rental in around San Jose or Mountain View

I am flying to San Jose this coming Thursday and staying until Monday. Trying to rent a good bike for those few days.

I found a shop in San Jose . I will call them tomorrow or on Tuesdayto see what they have...if they had a nice Surly that would be great. Something for pavement with some gravel ability would be nice.

ideally I would take an uber to the San Jose shop, put my seat and pedals on a good bike and pedal out to Mountain View to visit my son and spend time with him biking around.

i am going out on a limb to hope get some local knowledge recommendation.

cheers

Calling around to bike shops is your best option. You are going to " road cycling paradise" I lived there for 18 yrs and rode up to 12,000 miles/ yr on the peninsula. There are no gravel roads to ride (the place is really urbanized.) I would recommend, just a regular road bike. You have to ride up Foothill Expressway to Page Mill, turn right on Arastadero to alpine, to do the Portola Valley Loop. There is riding out on Stevens Creek to Mt Eden or Redwood Gulch, If yo like challenging steep climbs. Have fun

FYI, here's my list of shops in the Bay Area that rent bikes:
