I'm failing to see the fail. You aren't towing the pack, so you have by definition broken away, and you...look...fantastic. Really, I'd kill to look that good on a bike. I know you'd like to have had a break stick, but cut yourself some slack.
PS: I'd love to see you win off a solo break. No pressure.

I have tried many times recently to keep a solo break going. My power just ain't at that level yet. But I'll keep trying because it's one of my big goals.

Rain. Yuck!!! Looks chilly too. Doubly not fun.
But that's the life of a bike racer. Suffering in all the elements.

I was solo for about 15 minutes until this guy bridged up. By then my legs were toast though. We were caught shortly thereafter.

That's a nice shot, John. I've been looking for shots of me and having some trouble - my plan of staying tucked in and anonymous worked so well that there are virtually no shots of me. Most are just my leg and hip, or a blurry guy on the side of a shot focused on someone else, things like that.
There is pretty good footage of you in the videos that Chuck linked to on our group if you haven't checked that out yet

Horse Country TT, 20K. 4th. I was suffering here at the finish, you can tell because my form went to crap as I moved to the tip of the saddle. Photo creds to my wife.

Sierra Rd KOM event prior to the AToC rolling through. 1st place in 20-34 open category. Top 10 time of 150ish riders. I think 6 or 7, but the fastest guys were about 90 seconds ahead of me in the 35-50 category.

Oh so much suffering. Lost 6lbs in a day from a stomach bug the day before. 5 man break I had to skip so many pulls to keep from getting dropped. Couldn't even manage a sprint an rolled in.

Jesuit Ranger Roundup, my fifth race ever and my first race in the Womens Open. They started us with the Masters 40, 50 and 60+. At Jesuit I learned that it really does matter where you start when you're in a field of 100. That was a lonely 50 miles in the wind.

Pictures of me racing in the A group of our local training race series. 55 mile road race and after the first hour it got really hot and a lot of people dropped out. We were also chasing a break the whole time and got within 10sec but we were never organized enough to pull it back. Anyway I am the one with the BIC jersey (team for the training series) and white helmet.

Rictus grin at Tues Night Worlds (same day as Mike's pictures, same photog Joe). It was on my face for a full lap after I made a big bridge move (don't have power/speed info here). I came off when Max (black bike, Cat 2) pulled through. Ron (white bike, Cat 1) stayed on my wheel. We got caught shortly afterwards. Won the field sprint later, although 6? riders lapped us shortly before it.
