Latest bargain, what you think?
Picked this up for £50 last night.
It was in a bit of state. Thick with oil. Electrical tape instead of bar tape. Gear indexing all out. Wheels needing serviced and trued. 105 groupset. 105 wheels. Needs new tyres too.....
Need to level saddle....

Absolute bargain, Merida are the real engineering brains behind most Specialized bikes and rated the 2nd best mass produced frame manufacturer on the planet behind Giant.

Just curious. Is that actually bar tape? It looks shiny and more like electrical tape but it could just be the photo.

I'm not that familiar with the Merida bicycle line, but I know they sell some very good MTB bicycles in Europe. If the whole shift mechanism is Shimano 105 (FD, RD, Brifters) its definitely worth the price. If its also a 105 crank and cassette, then you practically stole it from the seller!

This is the bike now.
The seller was a poor soul, down on his luck. He used it to go back and forth to the job centre. He just needed the money....
He had no real idea what he was selling. He obviously was not a "cyclist" he just happened to have this bike.
As I have stated, it was in a real sorry state. Wheels, which are 105's, are totally gubbed! With my bike fixing buddy at the moment to see if they are saveable.
I put on a set of American Classic Sprint 360. Which I think are perfect!
The shifters are 105 along with the front and rear derailleur. Brakes are just basic Shimano.
It is only 8 speed. But, was so nice to ride.
I put on new bar tape....the electrical tape was not for me!!!

My first aluminium-framed, non-touring bike was a Merida that was a base road bike. It served me incredibly well and with over 10,000km without any chain nor gear replacements. Sold it cheaply before I moved states, and have never seen it again, but I sure do miss it for what it was and did.
Good luck with this new buy. Have a great time on a bike that is part of, I believe, a Taiwan manufacturer, hence the top class in it.
