Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Thanks. Here's another, prettier photo with the lady-friend's '74 Raleigh Grand Prix that I converted for her. Only reason I plan on converting back for road use is that I'm moving from the flat city streets of Chicago to a hillier area.

Reverse compensating? Is that a real phrase? Did I just make that up? Doh.

Thanks. Yeah. I did exactly that with my geared bike.

That saddle/post will be swapped onto the fixed gear bike. It's a nice Thomson post and high-end Fizik saddle.

I'll buy a black seat post and new saddle for the geared bike.

Did you mean to say reverse overcompensating?

The steel tube only is ~5 1/8" or ~130mm.

Awesome, that's exactly what I wanted to see.
When I bought my used Pista, the owner told me it was a 57 but it fit me perfectly....and I typically ride a 55. I did some measuring and they were all coming closer to a 55cm frame...but the last measurement was the headtube and I wasn't sure if Bianchi's listed measurements were including the headtube only or headtube + upper/lower headset rings. The 55's are listed as 130mm and the 57's are listed as 150mm....mine was 130mm headtube only/150mm including the headset rings.

Your measurements solved it since yours is 130mm and you know it's a 55cm. Thanks again!

Haha.. I leave several times a year to remind myself why I live here. Funny how that works. I appreciate vacations so much more, and it's great to come back home.

EDIT:
I just noticed in the pic, the building you see to the left is a prison...with a view...

I do miss it. Atlanta will never be New York and riding the 5 Borough Bike Tour is something I want to do again someday.

Spring, Summer and Fall are nice. Winter is TOO long and TOO harsh for my tastes. I miss California a lot, for many reasons. I really miss the beach.....listening to the ocean.
