Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cycliq (manufacturers of cycling video cameras/light combos) are having a 30% off sale with the launch of their UpRide service (a site to upload and log aggressive driving, etc). So yeah, a nice discount - it comes to $210 for the front light/camera and $140 for the rear camera/light.

One piece SPD-SL cleats in various colours

Shimano cleats are great but expensive.

The Chinese Tiebao ones that imitate Shimanos are five times cheaper but only last about a 5th of the time because the coloured bits break off (and don't even mean anything - they all have 6 degress of float).

Exustar SPD-SLs are about as good as Shimano, made of one piece of plastic (the bits that are coloured are painted black) and a bit cheaper.

These look promising because they are one piece cleats and almost as cheap as the the other Chinese ones, and they come in a variety of colours. I ordered orange.

About 2 weeks for free shipping, and a couple of days less for their express shipping.

Merlin has a Schwalbe sale going on right now plus an additional 10% off when you add them to the cart.

With the stacked discount, the new Pro 1 Addix TLE (tubeless) are going for $30 each. If you get 3 or more, shipping is free - I already stocked up for the year but this makes me want to buy some for next year.

The non-tubeless variety is going for about $25 each.

If Mrs. NoWhammies didn't already give me the side-eye for having two sets of new tyres sitting in the garage, I'd be tempted to order a set. That's a pretty good price.

The Garmin Varia RTL510 rear light/radar is down to $129.99 on Amazon. Originally $199.99. Some are speculating that a new model is going to drop soon.

Okay... I'm not following the implication. Does that mean that you placed an order with Cycliq, they don't have domestic stock and you received a notification that your item was delayed?

I ordered a groupset from China, and a set of brifters form Taiwan a few weeks ago. They are both already in the US, and the groupset has cleared customs. It looks like they are on target to arrive by the projected date, possibly sooner. It may have gotten slower now. Issues about possible delays are now posted on web-sites, at least the ones I have seen.

Nice, got mine on sale for $150, probably the best piece of cycling gear I've bought.

No. Roads are still pretty bad, here - gritty, potholes, cracks, etc - so I'm going to hold off mounting them for another month or so. Still tempted to buy more, anyway - when I first got the S-Ones, I caught them at $30 each and I kicked myself for not stocking up when I finally got around to riding them.

Wilier GTR Team 105 Road Bike Without Wheels, ~$950

Through the weekend, Merlin has an extra 15% off of the ~$1115 sale price. I don't know anything about the model, but it seems pretty decent for a carbon frame from a good, but not common, manufacturer.

Agreed!

In the rural area I ride in the Varia is my number one piece of gear and it’s not even close! Love this thing (my second one).

Maybe a new model is coming out soon?

Excel has some great deals on 2019 Cervélo R3 models. Just ordered the R3 Ultegra DI2 rim brake model for $2998.

https://www.excelsports.com/main.asp...jor=1&minor=35

They also have a hugely tempting R5 SRAM Red ETap for $5000 which is a steal (if you’re a 51).

That's insane. The R3 would make a great 2nd bike. Hmmm, how to sell to wife?

I’m taking a vacation day (from being “self-quarantined”) on Monday when mine is coming. I got a set of Flo 60s to put on the bike and will be transferring the Novatecs to my SL2 Tarmac. Not sure about the stock 40mm bar and 90mm stem. I’ll probably swap those out based on preferences on my current setup, but will give it s go before making any decisions.
