Stolen Trek 3700 Mtn Bike
My Trek 3700 was stolen this morning. I stopped at McDonalds at 16th St & Glendale for breakfast. My bike was locked with a cheap cable lock around a street post and a U-lock around the frame and rear tire.
I figured it would be alright because I was sitting where I could see it out the window. It was dark, but from time to time I would look out the window and could see the bike. I guess I got too wrapped up in my reading. When I left the bike was gone. The cable and it's lock were still there. The cable had been cut. The thief must have carried the bike off because the U-lock was gone as well. I reported it to the police.
The main reason I'm posting this here is on the off chance someone from the Phoenix area sees it. So here's a pic.

Yes I know it's a long shot but..

The End
I've posted about the bike in this thread. https://www.bikeforums.net/fifty-plu...olen-bike.html. Here's the rest of the story.
The Phoenix Police recovered the bike at a pawn shop in Oct 2017. They wanted to know if I wanted the bike back. Or prosecute. I told them if the person pawning the bike stole it or knew it was stolen then sure. Wish I'd just asked for the bike back.
The investigation took about a year. No complaints. This is not a TV show. These things can take time. Late in September they finished the investigation.
Then comes a hearing to determine ownership. Hadn't thought about it but the pawn shop does have a claim on the bike. The hearing was Nov 1. As the original owner, victim and yes I want my bike back, I was awarded ownership.
About 4 weeks later I received a letter saying I could pick up the bike. There were instructions. Where to go, bring ID, you may have to wait...
Dec 4th I went to the property impound. Waited for almost 3 hrs before being told they couldn't find the bike. WHAT?!? They gave me a paper with the contact info for filing a claim with Risk Management.
I filed the claim over the Christmas vacation. Today I received a check. I guess the city bought the bike. Registered it as recovered on bikeindex.org.
Feeling bittersweet.
