Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Went out for a short run before work and almost got hit by an oncoming car. Is someone out there trying to tell me something??

I finalized my flights, last evening, for my upcoming trip north. As I was filling in the personal information for the return flight, an announcement popped up that the price had dropped $40. This trip is a record, even for the likes of me. Two one-way tickets, one of them non-stop, each under $117. And all flights on A321 planes, my current fave. I learned, some few trips ago, to carry a change of clothes, some underwear, and nothing more. The rest can be picked up at thrift and dollar stores, and then jettisoned before the return. For much less than the cost and hassle of a carry on bag. I also learned, some time ago, that there exist in the USA many more rathole accomodations than luxurious. So I spend more on a nights sleep than on airfare. Seems a bit twisted, but there it is.

You think I should drive to the MUP and run on the trail? Seems like too much work.

If anyone needs cheap mediocre wheels, you can get these from Excel for $148.

Salty first ride on the re-made Schwinn. Minimal tinkering required during the ride. Enjoyed the vertically and laterally compliant ride.
