GM's New e-Bikes
GM is releasing news about two mid-drive bikes it will sell in the EU first, then (probably) US. One is a folder and one mini-commuter. Someone else will be better at posting the web information than I, but the design is very appealing, if the price (about $3K US) isn't.

those bikes are a bit more interesting than I would have expected. Not sure I want either one of them though.

Some interesting direction in design, but I would rather the innovatiopn result in lower pricing for the masses, I like my folders and rarely see others on the street, but people that see them appear to like them. ("We need these. Grab a picture to show Dad")
These are especially odd ducks with small wheels, with a stiff price.

I stopped buying GM in the 80s when my cars fell apart.
It's not good enough to get my wallet out... especially the first run of them.....wait to see what the problems are.
I prefer crossed spokse for strength, not radial.

I think radial spokes and disc brakes don't get along...I feel like that must be a bad Photoshop or optical illusion or someone messed up the photo bike build.

Bikes: This list got too long: several ‘bents, an urban utility e-bike, and a dahon D7 that my daughter has absconded with.

My vote is for, "it's ugly."
That being said, it is interesting to see the slow movement of the auto makes into the next generation of transportation. I doubt that I will see the end of the auto age. However, I am seeing the massive transition as people are recognising that the private auto is not the solution to all transportation questions.

I guess it would be better said, it is interesting to see the slow movement of the general US public into the next generation…
Looks like it is designed to be put in the trunk (to provide the proverbial “last mile” transportation) and has the practicality of a Brompton (which is a good thing). Not sure why one would want these more than the scooters that have taken over urban environments lately…

Can't speak for every area but in urban OC (to me) bicycling isn't a safe form of transportation. Gas is going to need to be $10 a gallon to convert these areas which is a shame since I would love to go everywhere on my bike.

Nope, that's why they are selling the bike in Europe. ;-)
I do love bike commuting in Europe, and a bike like this would be a lot easier than car or train for my European commute.
