Maybe a petroleum-based oil would work better by lasting longer.

It's the first time I gave it a shot. I didn't oil it previously. I'll switch to something more proper, when I can find it, as I move my tools to the attic in preparation for the impending family expansion.

Smells good though, that oil does.

Brexit day (neither of us is British, yet!)

I'm quite pumped to raise a daughter.

I gotta say ... that oil worked it's way in over the day and the ride home was flawless.

Been at least a year since I oiled the drivetrain and it made a huge difference.

It's like a new bike ... 5 more years, here we come!

Long-term is a relative term, and so is new.

well, unfortunately, it seems that a new bike computer is in my future as the frame on this one is finished.

no contact this morning and the top two buttons have broken off.

also, the plastic frame has cracked on both side.

any suggestions for a cheap computer that takes CR2032 batteries? maybe under $10/€10/£10

The Sunding computers you can get on ebay work flawlessly for me and my friends. They're about $3.

Cool, thanks for the reco! That bigger $12 one with the night-mode screen and wireless looks pretty cool too -- have you ever tried that model, any idea what the batter life is like from that night-mode?

Yup. I can get some intermittent reads, so I think it's done. A few crashes and being run over did it in. Only about 1000 snaps in and out though, so that's somewhat disappointing at a £20 price point.

Nah, I had a CatEye Mity 3 on my bike in the US. Expensive and lasted.

Let's see how this runs:

Got a little screwed on the exchange rate, but I guess that's life.

I've put like 17K mi on a MITY 3 since 2011, it's been great. Only had to change the battery once. Picked up for $5 NIB off craigslist.

Cool. But my time is very limited and I'm not dealing with people any more than I do already to save a few dollars by trauling CL. Also, used stuff in GB is very used.

episode 477
5287km/3285mi/249.83h
£605.76/€679.05/$777.27 total
£2.425/€2.718/$3.111 per hour
£0.1146/€0.1284/$0.2366 per km/mi
£1.270/€1.424/$1.629per RT commute

seems that the computer isn't registering the full distance as the mount is somewhat broken. Have ordered a new one (as per above) and will get it on ASAP.

seems that the bike computer is bouncing around and not making full-time contact (still have used those values below) and I have one coming from China.
