Wahoo Elemnt Roam for Navigation? Coming from Garmin
I have a Garmin Edge 830 and it's an OK device. I have been very frustrated with my phone losing pairing almost constantly and that the navigation accuracy has been pretty poor. For example, re-routing for a missed turn takes a while and only seems to offer endless requests for a U-turn, no matter how far off route you go.
Given the sale this week I decided to try the Wahoo Roam. The setup was much easier, and I love that much of it can be controlled via an iphone app. This is much easier than the Garmin interface.
Anyways, I've been enjoying the Wahoo. Mostly! One issue is the beeps for alerts are crazy loud with no ability to reduce the volume (I don't want them disabled). I can live with this though.
The real issue is if I am on a data screen and a turn is approaching from a programmed route, for example, the unit doesn't switch to some type of map view showing where to go. Instead it just displays the street name for a brief period then even that disappears. Does anyone know if there is a different setting I am missing? The one thing I like more about the Garmin is how it displays a little map and switches to that from any data screen you are on when a turn is approaching.
Any help or other advice between the two units would be appreciated.
