Football over dramatic

I love football but I donít need the over dramatic music and the slow video making it look like a bad soap opera. Itís just a game! If my team loses Iím not going into depression and my life isnít ruined The hiker that got his hand caught between two boulders and cut his hand off with a dull knife then walked three miles for help is a true bad azz.

I never was much of a football fan, never even been to a live game (high school, college, or pro). Its just 10 seconds of action followed by 2 minutes of standing around on the field before the next 10 seconds of action.

The NFC on Fox sure is over dramatic. So much so that the actual live plays can be a let down.

While NCAA football and the NFL sure seem like they were invented for television, going to a live game is so much better.

If you ever have a kid or grandkid involved in high school football (player, cheerleader, drill team, color guard, or band member) it's worth seeing at least one game in person. The tickets are cheap, there is plenty of seating, and the action on the field can be surprisingly good. One just has to realize the limitations of 14 to 18 year old athletes when watching, but it still can be solid entertainment.

NFL games are routinely "massaged" in the desired direction with the use of [offensive or defensive] holding and pass interference penalties. The game momentum can be swung at the drop of a hat. Whether or not a true infraction occurred is irrelevant. #vegasbaby
I might watch the 5 minutes of "highlights". But forfeit 3+ hours of my life on one of those spectacles? Um, no thanks.

I too am a football fan, but I never watch it with the sound turned on. I am not really interested in the constant barrage of useless stats spewed out by the commentators. They rarely talk about the significant things going on in the game they are paid to comment on.

I went from being an rabid college football fan and a avid NFL fan to a I don't care too much anymore. I will keep an eye on teams I have followed all my life ( Chiefs, Notre dame) but other than that the big money, politics, drugs, assualts, temper tantrums etc...have driven me away. Plus since we have taken up cycling instead of sitting my butt down all weekend watching football I am now out riding.

...now that's a good thing ^^^

The NCAA football playoff championship that started in 2014 has made college football much more interesting, now having a Final 4 similar to basketball, rather being decided by sportswriters and polls. The 2nd game last night between Clemson and Ohio State will be considered a classic and I'm hoping the championship game Jan 13th will be as good.

Same here. I'll check standings in a league, but I really don't watch football anymore. Not counting yesterday's NCAA games.

My Cajun wife made sure we watched the Peach Bowl, which turned out to be 2 football games - 1 game per half.

I'll start by saying that I'm nowhere near a sports enthusiast. The last NFL game I went to was probably 25 years ago. The last MLB game, 12 years ago.

What really bothers me when I watch the occasional NFL/MLB/NBA game is the amount of advertising at the stadium or arena. Any flat surface that is bigger than 1 square foot has an advertisement on it. I mean EVERY flat surface.

You would really have been "bothered" watching baseball being played in the old time parks like Ebbets Fields, (Brooklyn)

or Shibe Park (AKA Connie Mack Stadium) in Philadelphia.

I still remember Richie Allan, hitting a homer run OVER one of the billboard that was on top of the left filed bleachers, I think it was advertising Schmidt's Beer. Never will forget that the scoreboard was the Ballentine Beer scoreboard.

Grew up in Milwaukee, Cheese Head through and through. I thank Colin Kaepernick for giving my free time back to me during the football season. After his BS I lost interest in the game, at least on the pro level. He was not a good QB and had an axe to grind with the NFL and it became a s*** show with all the teams jumping on the bandwagon. So special, don't ya know?
No thanks. That is not entertainment.

I'll give Colin credit for figuring out how to shift careers and keep the millions flowing in. Iffin' I was a celebrity I could do something likewise. Nike wouldn't be in the cards for me though, so I'll have my agent call Dickies work clothes. Oh yeah, I can smell the $1s coming my way.

Yeah, I should have invented Pusheen or Hello Kitty.

That's what I get for skipping classes on graphic design and marketing.
