🎁 Is it Christmas yet?

What was you favorite (e.g., most prized/precious) Christmas gift growing up? Was it a Jungle Gym? Tonka truck? Chatty Cathy? A new baseball glove? Big Wheel? Easy Bake Oven? Hot Wheels?

Do we really need to include bikes? OK, if you must. But if that is the case, be sure and do a # 2.

In honor of this holiday season, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone at BF a very, merry, Christmas.

Merry Christmas right back atcha.

Favorite Christmas gift growing up?

I can remember when G.I. Joe got Kung Fu Grip and my brother and myself got one of each. We were G.I. Joe fans for sure.

Least favorite I can remember was a lie detector I wanted, but it turned out to be an electronics kit from Radio Shack. No one in my family knew squat about soldering or reading a schematic. I gave it a shot in the dark, but fouled it up immensely. So, I got a lie detector that had no chance of working.

Nice. Bullpups are a great theory, but I'm not sold yet.

1st. Erector set. (I wanted to build a robot.)
2nd Tonka Firetruck.

Bicycle came on 9th birthday. Somehow my parents decided that one had to be at least 9 to own a bike... of course that could have come from my much younger experience at about age 6 of ridng a borrowed bike through a Convent window.

My favorite gift was getting a name brand Ludwig snare when I'd been using a Sears blue sparkle "Silvertone?" in school band.

The Mattel Thingmaker came out about '64 and was wildly popular among 8 or 9 year old boys. I was pleased to get one. Dangerous as heck, easy to burn your fingers badly, I'm sure it put out plenty of toxic fumes.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thingmaker
"It is generally believed that production of the original Mattel Thingmakers was discontinued following consumer safety concerns over allowing children to use a small electric heater as a toy.[citation needed]"

Being one of the younger people here, a Nintendo 64! Erector and train set definitely followed close behind. When I was 9 or 10 my Dad made me throw out all of my stuffed animals, so my aunt bought me a MASSIVE teddy bear for Christmas to make me feel better. That was definitely up there.

Not counting bikes, of course. Happy holidays all. Safe travels!

There was this Dukes of Hazzard race track that had launchers for the cars that you slammed down your fist and it squeezed a little ramp in the back of the car to shoot it. The track was arranged in a figure 8 with a jump in the middle where the cars could crash. I waaaaanted it so bad, asked Mom and Dad and Santa and anyone who would listen. They listened! This must have been 1982.

My kid gets way more TV than I ever did and toys are way more available, so he says he wants everything. I'm not even sure what he wants. I could supply him with every kind of toy all with just one character from Paw Patrol. The Lego aisle at Walmart has far more selection than the one at my Toys R Us
