VO2 Max indicates I May be dead

Garmin Connect just gave me a badge for improved VO2 Max so I decided to see what they think it is. Current VO2 is 26 - up from 16! I didn't realize how bad this winter has been on my fitness level.

What's wrong with me?!?!

You're a goner.
I have a question for you from the grave. I don't even notice a change to my breathing on the bike until my HR hits about 165 bpm or so. Does this mean I have the fitness of an Olympian? Everybody else I ride with seems to start breathing hard with HR about 150 or so. Any ideas?

So many variables when trying to compare heart rate values from person to person. Some people have very high heart rates and others very low. Only thing that matters is how you compare to yourself. Your hr max maybe 15bpm higher than theirs so you both are at about the same percentage of max hr when you are breathing heavy. Neither is better than the other.

at 165 HR I would be dead, my max HR is 145 my resting HR is 45. I can cruise comfortably at HR 105 / 110. individual HR varies from one person to the next and couldn't be used to compare with others.

Lol Garmin connect pings mine around mid 70s, normally 75, 76, and I'm only a cat 4 racer, I wouldn't put much stock in it.

I breathe hard pretty early in the game. A few years back I was having an irregular heartbeat that proved to be premature ventricular contractions. While they were running tests they did a stress test where they put me on a treadmill. They slowly increased the speed and incline. They kept asking me how I was feeling. I told them I was feeling fine. I was breathing hard, but I didn't feel taxed at all. The two techs kept looking at each other in disbelief as they were turning things up. They finally said something to the effect of "we're not going to get there" after about 15 minutes. I asked them about it after the test. I forget what they were trying to push my heart rate to, but I wasn't coming close. It surprised them because I was breathing really heavy. They said my heart muscle was in great shape. Some of us are just anomalies I guess. I don't use a monitor when I ride, so I have no idea what my heart is doing when I ride hard.
