Today I was going to ride, but am sick.

Thanks. I tried this ride about a week ago, but at mile 45 my rear tire blew out. It was not a puncture. The casing just failed. I've never had that happen before.

So with new tires, I made another attempt and was successful this time. I'll probably repeat this ride from time to time.

This Saturday I'm in the LoToJa race:

L O T O J A 2 0 1 6

I'm not ready to tackle the whole 206 miles myself, so I'm doing it on a 2-man relay. My part will be about 113 miles, including a bunch of climbing. At least I'm hoping we're still on. My teammate has been incommunicado for several days.

I got a pair of Mavic Ksyrium Pro Exalith as my backup wheels. I don't think I'm ever gonna need another wheelset haha

I'm open to suggestions and corrections.

Still have plenty of light blue around as well as black and grey.

Its a late model Specialized Air Tool FWIW.

Maybe I'll have it powder coated to match the bike?

Today I started assembling some stuff for a big race coming up.

I have an extra front wheel I thought I'd take along... you know, for a spare. On looking at it, I noticed the tire is mounted backwards. It's marked for the correct rotating direction, and that's not the way I had it. I don't believe that makes much difference, if any (especially not on dry pavement). But I thought I might as well turn it around. I went to all the trouble to remove and reinstall it. And then it occurred to me that all I had to do was turn the skewer around.

So today I proved that I'm not always the sharpest crayon in the box. (In my defense, I had just gotten done fiddling with a rear wheel. I'd checked that its tire was on the right way, so I was in that mindset.)

Today I realized my road bike was shifting like dog **** because I've been trying to adjust the RD by turning the barrel adjuster in the wrong direction. Learning is fun.

Trophy Cup?

Put in 130ish miles for a race this weekend only to race again on Tuesday at the trophy cup, my legs are so blown right now but hoping to make some more cross this weekend. We also get a fixieboy crit this weekend that I can't wait to heckle.

Turns out that after ~4000 miles my SRAM chain has stretched a little. Shocking, I know.

EDIT:

Also, I spent over two hours cleaning/working on my bike last night and still have at least an hours worth of work left to do on it tonight. Commuting on wet gravel is bad for bikes.
