What?! Nobody has anything to say about the 50% price increase on ZWIFT?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My thought as well.

Going from AUD$14 - AUD$20 for us over here and still very much worth it during a cold, wet Winter. I've been on since Beta and have the 12-month grace period at the old rate. I haven't yet suspended my subscription over the warm months, as there are times when I'm time poor, or cannot leave the house, where I can still get a decent roll in.

cheers

I can't see much overlap between the Zwift and Peleton customer base.

My monthly subscriptions include a cell phone, an internet connection, and a pre-paid legal service in case my ass gets sued.

I can bum netflix or an hbo account but I'm rarely interested in watching anything anymore.

I run 5 days a week and am trying to get into a good habit of yoga, but I cycle indoors specifically to stay in good cycling shape. The gym is all fine and good and I'm not saying don't go, but if the goal is to maintain or improve cycling fitness over the winter months you have to cycle indoors or outdoors. For me indoor works better as it allows me to do more intense and structured training.

Compared to a typical MMORPG for computer nerds (e.g., World of Warcraft), Zwift is overpriced. It's less complex and has much less content, although its much lower on the economy of scale spectrum. $15 isn't terrible for most people that want to buy an indoor trainer to ride indoors. Hopefully this is a prelude to a new "family/household plan." It sucks paying double for two people when only one can be using the trainer at a time.

No DLC in zwift though, thank you nerd gods.

I still like riding outside but zwift (and a kickr) allow me to be much more consistent with my riding and I can get it all done while my wife is commuting home from work, so no work life conflict.

Netflix had their oops moment a few years ago when they jacked their prices and lost a ton of subscribers. Of course, they didn't grandfather everybody in for a year either, so I guess time will tell what happens.

Yep. DLCs and "freemium" games weren't really a thing 10 years ago and now they dominate the landscape. I'm actually surprised Zwift hasn't explored micro-transactions.

As someone who has paying $12/month to Blizzard for the last 13 years, I didn't even flinch with the new Zwift price. I enjoy it, I rode it year around this year and live an area where it's typically dry and rarely "too cold to ride."

I checked out the Peloton studio the other day in NYC, and let's just say the other patrons were way more interesting than the avatars in Zwift. Were there bikes in there too?

But seriously, my wife encouraged me to look into indoor classes for this winter, but I found Zwift instead. For the price of 3 or 4 indoor classes at Peloton I get the whole winter of Zwift, even with the hike. And since I won't use it in the warmer months, I figure I'll spend maybe $50 for it for the year. Even at $75 it is a bargain. With the rest of the money I save I also subscribe to The Sufferfest. I like them both. Different approach and same result, I get on a bike on a trainer and work hard. I'm going to check out TrainerRoad now since everyone mentions that as well.
