More SRAM disappointment.
My mechanic just explained why my new Enve bars can't be used with my Force 22 shifters, the brake and shifting cables come out wrong. I can't use red brake hoses, either, because of the way SRAM built them.
And don't get me started on front shifting.
I wish I'd ponied up for Ultegra.

There's a reason they hold 90% of the global cycling component market. Yeah, not all of it has to do with their functionality...but most of it.
You can always put it up on CL and get maybe 60% of your cash back.
Edit: Sorry, I meant to say Shimano owns 90% of the market, NOT SRAM.

I'm lost.. can you post some pictures or explain it better?
Do the bars run the cables internally?

Share some specifics please. What are you trying to do with the cables that you can't? How do the SRAM levers differ from Shimano in that regard? Red levers work fine with the several different bar types I have used them on. Whether the cable channels are on top or underneath the bars, the Red levers can direct the cable in the proper direction. And I don't much care whether the cables are above or below the bar, inside a molded channel or not. What is so different about the Enve bars? Being the argumentative sort I am tempted to think something is wrong with the bars, not the levers. Forgive me for that. Just trying to help.

I'd contact Enve customer service and confirm.

That's probably a good idea.
It's that the cables route internally though the bars. The entry points into the bars are positioned such that Shimano fits just fine and SRAM does not, at least that's what the mechanic told me.
The bars came free with my wheels, so I didn't research them the way I would have if I'd bought them separately. But I've never had wing bars before and was looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about.

I can't believe the OP implies something's wrong with SRAM's front shifting! I've been riding my Force 1x for over a year on my gravel bike. It's the best front shifting SRAM has ever produced!

Sram brake cables exit inboard, but shifter cables can exit either side.

Yeah, APRINCE's pic is why. One cable would wind up in front of the bar like that, instead of inside.

Holy crap.
So this is disappointment with my mechanic, not with SRAM.
Thanks for setting me straight. I already bled the brake line and put new bar tape on my old bars though.
I hate this mechanical crap. I just like to ride bikes.
