Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Trek Domane Rear seat light

I have a question. I just purchased a Trek Domane and like the Bontrager rear lights that clip up under the saddle. The bike has the clip and would tuck the light up high and centered. Does anybody know if I install a small bag for phone or spare tube under the seat would it block it. Looking for ideas for what type of bag to buy.

I have a Emonda and mounted my light low, on the frame and not the seatmast.

If this is the mount, then no you cant use a wedge bag.
Just buy a light that mounts to the seat post. There are dozens in various sizes and shapes.
Then get a Speedsleev or similar wedge bag that tucks up close and doesn't sway.

Does your saddle have the light mounting points? The Verse saddles I use do, and I have 2 bikes with this setup. I use my down tube storage on my domane.

I don't think a seat bag will work in combination with the light. On my SLR 7 the spare tube, CO2 cartridge, CO2 inflater head & levers go in the downtube storage compartment. I carry a Lezyne Caddy Sack Small in my jersey with an extra CO2 cartridge and few odds and ends like mini chain tool, patches, alcohol wipes etc. My phone goes in my center jersey pocket. I like the clean looks of the bike with the light and without a seat bag.

On my Domane, I use a wedge type saddle bag and don't have enough seat post to use a seat post mount for a tail light.

I don't like putting lights on the seat stay, I always seem to end up breaking the light there.

So, on Shapeways I found a custom clip that allows me to put my light on the loop on the back of the saddle bag. With a big of added velcro to keep the light vertical, it works great.

That's what I do on my Domane as well with the exception of the velcro. I may have to add that as the light tilts downward slightly.
