Tandem ephemera
Tandems have been often featured as subjects of art, advertising or illustrations. Such uses are often fleeting in nature, and when such material is collected it earns the fancy name ephemera.
From time to time I will stumble on interesting tandem ephemera images, and so I created this thread so as to have a place to collect and share.
I thought this nice. They called the shampoo itself Tandem, the bike needs to be identifed, and I can't decide whether the captain or stoker is cuter.
If anyone has or finds interesting tandem ephemera images, please post 'em here!
Ephemera is transitory written and printed matter not intended to be retained or preserved. The word derives from the Greek, meaning things lasting no more than a day. Some collectible ephemera are advertising trade cards, airsickness bags, bookmarks, catalogues, greeting cards, letters, pamphlets, postcards, posters, prospectuses, stock certificates, tickets and zines. Decks of personality identification playing cards from the war in Iraq are a recent example.

It's a 1960ish Schwinn Town & Country. The photo is reversed, which confuses things a bit since the sync chain / cover should be on the other side instead of the drive chain.

I bet if you search BF for "ephemera" and exclude posts by the erudite OP you'll not find this word anywhere in the BF world. I feel much more intelligent for having learned a new word even though it be one I'll seldom use.

A 19th Century cartoon in Punch. Bicycles in general and tandems in particular were apparently representative of The Future.
The stoker's-not-working joke apparently goes way back.

We saw this tandem graphic on a can of "radler" beer in Austria a while back. (Click to enlarge.)

Interesting tandem, what with no boom tube, and two wheel drive. The front wheel has a fork, but can't really steer, but that's okay. I think the stoker is using her arms as a rudder. Weight doesn't matter underwater, but hydrodynamics would be huge. This bike is not at all hydro, and neither are the bloomers.

Double good Tandem ephemera
Well, this one combines two of my favorite things:
[By the way, what is the singular form - ephemerum?]

Good question!
The singular is ephemeron.
The origin is from short-lived insects, such as the Mayfly, or Western Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies in the path of Zonatandem.
The singular is ephemeron.

A tandem pin-up poster, by Gil Elvgren. This tandem looks to be a lady-first, but there is no steering mechanism for the rear position. I guess the lady is in charge. The drivetrain is on the left, and the sync is on the right, but it did take a while for me to notice.
